Topic: Canon fs100 (camcorer) vs quickcam 4000

I have a canon fs100 camcorder (Google it)
And i was wondering if a quickcam 4000 is better quality and easier to use than the canon fs100.

Re: Canon fs100 (camcorer) vs quickcam 4000

Hmm...

The Canon FS100 probably has better picture quality than the QuickCam 4000. On top of that, you seem to be able to have more control over the focus and shutter speed settings with the FS100.

One huge drawback, however, seems to be that the Canon FS100 does not support Firewire/miniDV, and as such you will probably not be able to use it directly with a computer. This means that you will have to take the pictures with the camera yourself not being able to use computer software to preview your animation. Alternatively, some people point their webcam to the screen of the digital camera, and make a picture of both at the same time, thus having a super high quality photo list (on the digital camera), and a low-quality preview window (from the webcam, on the computer).

The question here is whether or not you find the QuickCam Pro 4000's results good enough to use it, or want to sacrifice user friendliness for (possibly unnecessary) picture quality.

Oh, and if you decide to go for a webcam, you might want to buy the QuickCam Pro 9000. It has even better specifications than the 4000 and is considered to be the "followup" of the 4000 in terms of what the most popular webcam is for brickfilming. In other words, 4000s are soooo 2007.
