Topic: Lighting Troubles

With a lack of creativity today, i couldnt think of a better name...
On to the question, how would one make computer screen glare?
ive tryed a few different things, but they just dont look good...
i have the set all build, all the other lighting is set up, but this problems is hampering my ablilty to start filming...
Thanks for your ideas!

Edit:
by computer screen glare, i mean the light that is edmitted for the screen.

If I'm on the forums, I'm probably waiting for Blender to finish rendering.

Don't post in a thread if you've got no idea what it's about.

Seeing as the LEGO computer screen is opaque plastic, the only way I can see this being done is in post-production. Do you have any effects programs?

Re: Lighting Troubles

ummm....
only the free stuff i can find on the internet...
i have wax 2.0 and virtualDub and a picture editor, but i was trying to stay away from that because of the frame-by-frame hassle...

Re: Lighting Troubles

You'd probably need something like After Effects.

I just had another idea. If you were to cut out the screen part of the element, print off a translucent version of it, stick that over the hole and hide an LED behind it...

A bit drastic, I know.

Re: Lighting Troubles

it might work... let me try it...
i had already tryed a few things w/ an LED light, but to no avail...

Re: Lighting Troubles

If you own WAX, you can edit it in Postpro.
WAX includes Masking, Scaling and Keying, so you could paint your PC green, in WAX make in transparent and then lay it on a PC-Aniation.
You can also scale your Screen-Animation into to PC-Screen, so it will be fit in it.

Re: Lighting Troubles

you could also sick something reflective like photo paper over the screen and shine a light directly onto it.

Re: Lighting Troubles

If you're looking at the computer from the back (therefore not seeing the screen) then an LED should do.
If you're looking at the computer from the front (therefore seeing the screen) then you should use WAX like Mario said for the screen. To make the glare, replace the comp screen with an LED, and mask the minifig (or whatever is in front of the screen having the light cast onto it) into the shot of the computer screen where you're digitally adding the screen. Sorry if that doesn't make sense!
