Topic: video compressing with sony vegas

We use Sony vegas to edit the Sitim films, and i've got difficulties to get a rendering with decent quality but good compression. Anyone got some advises on what parameters i should use ?

I'm on windows, and would like to get a .avi file. When compressing with the Xvid codec, I can get a proper weight, but the quality is awful.

I also still have problems with overweight files.

All the tutorials on rendering in Vegas on youtube seem to be only to HD mini/confused

I recommend exporting an uncompressed .avi file, then load it into compressing software ( Mpeg Streamclip ). I always get good results with that, Sméagol also has a good tutorial on how to export to HD etc. : linky.

Re: video compressing with sony vegas

well.. i asked to one of my friends who encodes dvds to his computer t do it for me. He used a small freeware called pocketdivxencoder to make a 26MB sized file out of my 250MB one, without too much quality loss. So, it's all good now!

Re: video compressing with sony vegas

There are loads of tutorials on YouTube about Vegas and Video compression. I haven't got a specific link to give you and I am just about to call it a night. But I am sure you'll find them.

Hmm hmm...I usually use the DivX CODEC which is good on compression, but has a lot of lines during the pans and crops. And movement.
