Topic: Lose My Soul music video - production thread
Hey guys!
If you frequent the #brickfilms IRC channel at all, chances are you are aware that I’ve been working on a secret project for a while now. If you haven’t, now you do. WELL… this is what I’ve been working on! Today seems like a good day to announce this, seeing as I’ve gotten the hardest part of the video behind me AND it’s my 5th anniversary on Bricks In Motion (yay)!
I am recreating the music video for Lose My Soul by Tobymac frame-for-frame in LEGO.
Most of 2014 I didn’t do anything since I didn’t really have any ideas I wanted to pursue, but I really wanted to work on something – and early last year I landed on the idea of recreating something else. This way I don’t need to come up with my own story, and I can really work on improving my animation.
This music video is one of the first music videos I ever watched, and while the song isn’t my favorite I love so many of the shots in this I thought it would be a lot of fun to make.
You can check out the original music video here.
So, in March or April of 2015, I slowly put together the pawn shop set (which I thought turned out wonderfully), and finally got a start filming in May. I completed a handful of shots between May and August, which is when I finally buckled down and began filming as often as I could. Right now I’m almost done with all the pawn shop scenes, meaning the hardest part is out of the way. ^.^
I’ll post here as I chip away at the rest of this, and hopefully it won’t take too long. I’m estimating at least two months, so Mayish is probably the earliest for this to be finished. That would work pretty well, actually – 1 year exactly in the making.
