Re: Animation Sets

Can you clarify what you mean, LegoLordPro?

If it's about CG brickfilms, I can't say that's a medium that excites me (although I did enjoy The LEGO Movie, with its near-realism and stop-mo feel). I think the thing, for me, is that if I'm doing CG anyway I'd rather create original characters and designs. But I understand it's appealing to some, and there's a convenient library of parts to work with.

All I'm saying is which one do you animate your legos with, a camera or The Application Lego Digital Designer:3

Re: Animation Sets

I've seen animations done in LDD, and in theory, it seems like a good idea. But the single fact that the graphic capabilities aren't nearly good enough to have it look good, that completely turns me off to the idea. So I would say that a camera is definitely preferable.

Re: Animation Sets

Most of us use a camera and stop motion animation techniques.

Some people do make CGI animation here but I think they use things like Blender which are a little more powerful than LDD for animation.

Re: Animation Sets

I only animate with stop motion. CG could be fun though, but I doubt I'll get into it.

I do not brickfilm anymore, but you can see my live action stuff here.

Re: Animation Sets

I guess I don't see how LEGO Digital Designer could be a good platform for creating films. It's not really set up to do that kind of thing.

But to each his own!

Re: Animation Sets

Well LDD isn't the only way to make film with CG. In fact I wasn't aware that anyone used it to animate. Like CK mentioned earlier, Blender is actually meant for animation and a common choice among CG animators. I don't think you necessarily have to be aligned with either physical or CG brickfilming.

Personally I animate using actual physical LEGO. I tried and failed miserably with CG stuff, I guess I just don't have the patience for it.
