Re: The LEGO Walking Dead

I liked this, the sets were the coolest part in my opinion. The stop motion was smooth, though I felt the pacing to be slow, which made the moment not that exciting.

But overall it's pretty good!

Thanks Harborlight,
It's not my first zombie brickfilm, but the first where I try SFX and moves like that.
I'm pretty proud of it. :-)

Re: The LEGO Walking Dead

Not bad!  Some good animation here, and I really like the wide open forest expanse feel you've created (that's an impressive collection of orange and red tree leaves you have there!).  It's something rarely seen in Brickfilms and it's refreshing to have it here.  I also really like how you managed to convey an entire story with no dialogue.

I do feel there are a few minor issues.  For a start, the green-screening at the beginning is pretty rough, and I feel that the digital effects and post-production zooms you added in would have looked much better if done in-camera.  The blood spatters in particular are far too brightly coloured; in the show itself Walker blood is much darker, almost maroon in colour.  (Perhaps it's slightly ironic that I'm saying this, given that many of the blood splatter effects in the actual show look like they were made in After Effects.)  Also, the colouring doesn't quite feel right, and is a tad too bright cool (the show has a much more subdued, desaturated, and warmer colour palette).  The orange and red trees are perfect, but the green ground looks far too bright; something like brown, tan, or dark/olive/sand green would have looked better, I think.  Perhaps this is also something of a more general lighting/colour correction issue, though (especially since the lighting does feel a bit flat too).  The cinematography also seems slightly off--oftentimes the camera is slightly elevated for no apparent cinematic reason, and makes the viewer feel a bit detached.  I also feel a few close-ups on the faces of the characters instead of using wide shots all the time would have added a lot.

Nevertheless, these are some pretty minor complaints (I may be being a bit too nitpicky here), and overall it's a solid effort.

Re: The LEGO Walking Dead

Thanks a lot Mr Vertigo,

You're right, I could have done better on those point. The truth is that I have to work on improving my lightning skills, camera angle choices and After Effect skills. I try to learn a little more each time I do a new brickfilm, but I'm not holding back on the point I don't like so the brickfilm can be release before I'm tired of it. :-)

As for the blood, it was more dark and when I've try some settings, I found it more fun being bright (and more clear for the action), so I switched the setting. :-)

The forest was big and... very difficult to work with. The trees were falling everytime I touched them. You know, LEGO trees!

Thanks again. I really appreciate your comments.
