Topic: AndySocial and the Antidotes: The World Goes On

This is a music video from one of my brother's bands.  The guy who voiced the cashier and man in line in HOO 3 wrote & performed the song and wrote the video.  The video was filmed & directed by the voice of Mark in HOO.  I did all the post-production and editing work.

ADVISORY: there is an obscene gesture in the video.

look for a lot of Godzilla figures and vintage robot toys during the man castle scenes.
They sound a lot like the Ramones.  I hoe you enjoy it.

Not bad at all. I liked the song! The music video overall worked well, however I felt like there were simply too many static tripod shots. A song that moved like that, I feel should have been reflected move in the camera work.

The color shift/flashing effect you utilized was nice, in fact I would have liked to have seen it cover more of the frame. (I take it you only applied that to the highlights?)

It appears that some of the footage was shot rather dark, I would have dumped some more light on the basement/performance shots. (Although you did the post/edit, so not nessicarily something you could control.)

I would mess around with some of the color grading as well to see if you could bring out some more contrast in a few of the scenes. (Some of them seemed a bit flat.)

Overall, nice work on it! mini/bigsmile

Hi.

Glad you liked it.

The color effect WAS applied only to highlights.  We thought too much would detract from everything.  When the effect was first applied, it was slower and all solid colors: pale orange, pale pink, pale blue, in sequence at about 4 FPS.  I was looking for some fancy effect even creating my own, and after a while, I said, HOW ABOUT KEEP IT SIMPLE AND MAKE T LIKE A CLASSIC VIDEO?  So I came up with the 3 color flash based on an effect I saw in a TV ad.

My brother wanted it flashier and at 7 FPS.  His idea was to make it look a bit like old Atari graphics.  He had in mind one of our favorite music videos from the 1970s, Devo's "The Day My Baby Game Me a Surprize [sic]" (1979).  Should be on YT... let me fire up Tor and see...

Originally the band is behind a blue screen but about :43 into it you'll see an effect.  I had more of the bridge from "Weird Al" Yankovic's Dare to Be Stupid (1985) in mind, which is actually an original song/video paying tribute to Devo:

The effect is about 1:36 into it.  We went with Andy Social's idea, and he chose the color schemes for the 9 frames.

The static camera work is mostly what I had to work with, having nothing to do with the shooting stage.  I could adjust the video contrast for the DVD release as you suggested.  Thanks!
