Topic: The Great Trailer Race

As I'm sure you're all aware by now, there seems to be a surge in recreating popular movie trailers out of Lego.
The brickfilming community seems to be pretty mixed on the subject. In light of this, I'm interested in hearing your thoughts as to why. Why is recreating trailers out of Lego a good thing or a bad thing?

And, if you have recreated a trailer out of Lego, feel free to share it in this thread.

Don't forget to keep it calm and civil guys. mini/wink

Views.

It's that simple for most. Most of these recreations aren't done with much effort, if any at all. Yet, there is a lot of views and likes attached. A good amount of potential revenue.

I remade the BATMAN V SUPERMAN with a terible result to prove it, before Warner Bros cramped my style.

I also remade the Fantastic Four trailer earlier this year, to some modest effort on my part. Pretty decent outcome.

The problem some must be having wth this is that it is a quick way to become popular on youtube with little work. There are animators that shall not be named with thousands of subs and milllions of views with terrible trailer remakes. All are trying to crack them out quickly before the rest show up.

Re: The Great Trailer Race

It's generally a waste of time in my opinion, unless you have an exit plan to use it to build an audience and then springboard it to something else on your channel. This is limiting; people who found you for a LEGO Star Wars video are likely to just want more LEGO Star Wars videos and not care about your work when you branch out to other subjects or mediums.

I had fun recreating the Star Wars trailer with MindGame, though. I probably wouldn't want to do it again, but I learned some things on the technical side working on it.

I think this right here is the best reason for recreating a trailer in LEGO. At least in drawing, when you are learning you're often encouraged to study and even copy the works of great artists to gain a better understanding of drawing principles, and also an artist's style and so on.

But you could also do this with short movie clips. The primary reason for recreating trailers seems to be views.
