It is amazing how much depth the plexi-glass gives the frame. Is there a picture without the plexi-glass for comparison?

I don't have anything quite like that. Essentially despite my best efforts with the lights, all the trees blended together and it was pretty impossible where one ended and the one behind it began, until we figured out a way to create layering like this.

Re: Show off a Frame!

Started animating Vampire Egress today. I was going to wait until I had the voices, but there were some lighting effects and some vfx I wanted to try out first. Originally I was going to light it the way I normally do night scenes, but when I looked at one of the test frames I realised I hadn't changed the white balance after the last time I used my camera, and it had a surprisingly fitting, murky effect.

Because I didn't take as much LEGO to uni this year as I did last year, the set isn't all that big or expansive, so I'll be shooting shots in batches rather than chronologically. This will also be the first Vampire Town brickfilm shot on an entirely new set (since Owls and Booze had the same basic set with different, uh, 'interior decoration').

I should mention these are graded and, in the first frame, effects added (the ghostly figure slowly fades in, nothing too flashy).

Re: Show off a Frame!

I've decided to take a break from my main brickfilm project for a bit. Here's a frame from a quick little Midieval film I'm working on. I kinda like how the lighting turned out.

Re: Show off a Frame!

Thought I might as well share another frame from the short I'm making. As you can hopefully tell, I'm putting a lot of work into the lighting to make it look interesting.

Re: Show off a Frame!

It definitely is interesting!  Very adventurous.  I sure wish I could have done a voice for this.

Haha, thanks HOO!

This is from a short little side project I'm working on. It'll probably be only around a minute long and has no voice acting in it. I'm aiming to have it done some time around the end of this month, so stay tuned mini/wink

Re: Show off a Frame!

Oh, I thought this wa Vega Zyro.  All voices are taken, is that correct?

Shot while holding the camera in my hands.  This is a test photo.  The cut shot at this angle was later filmed with a tripod.

Re: Show off a Frame!

@HoldingOurOwn The sets look really good. It seems as though you're including some of the rooms of the house we haven't seen before in the earlier episodes mini/bigsmile

Re: Show off a Frame!

Thanks, William.  It is correct that there are some new rooms.  And I'm just about ready to shoot the first Melissa's bedroom scene!  I'm so excited; I built the Melissa set over 2 years ago, when I was in between episodes 1 and 2.  This basement was inspired by Ray Barone's basement in Everybody Loves Raymond.  There is even a bottle of Pepto-Bismol visible in some shots; a similar bottle was seen on Raymond's shelf in early seasons of Everybody Loves Raymond.

Also, episode 6 will feature a kitchen set. Episode 3 gives you a glimpse of it when Angela enters the living room.  The kitchen is actually for my wife; she's planning a Brickfilm series of her own.

Yeah, I thought the house was like that of Everybody Loves Raymond. Nice sets mini/wink

Re: Show off a Frame!

Test shot from HOO ep 4... you can see some studs on the ceiling.  Melissa's bedroom scene.

Actual shot... may rehoot, or I might just increase the brightness.

Re: Show off a Frame!

I think it looks slightly yellow-ish. If you re-shoot you should adjust the white balance.

I do not brickfilm anymore, but you can see my live action stuff here.

Re: Show off a Frame!

Hey!  I already re-shot and it looks much better!  Posting new pix soon.  what do others think?

Re: Show off a Frame!

Looks pretty good to me HOO. One question though: why are there  arms and hands attached to the clothes hanging in Melissa's closet? mini/shifty

YouTube  |  Flickr  |  Twitter

Re: Show off a Frame!

That is an excellent question!  The hands are only present in the first picture, which was a test set-up shot.  I kept hands on the arms until I was ready for shooting so that I wouldn't lose them.  For regular shooting, I removed the hands but left the arms on only because I fear that I may damage them.  But I addressed the issue on my tumblr page, saying the arms may be sleeves:

myself wrote:

Brent’s pointing at the phone, curious about what’s going on.  Take a look at the room.  First of all, you can see on the small tabletop [in this image it's on a seat cusion] that Missy has the Newscaster Barbie doll that her mom Angela gave her in episode 2.  Next, look in her closet.  All of Missy’s tops are identical!  And are those her arms on them all, or sleeves?!  At the upper left of the closet, you can see my finger on the camera’s shutter button reflected int eh [sic] transparent element.

I hope that the answers are satisfactory!
