Topic: Full Frame DSLRs

So I recently picked up a Canon 6D but it isn't compatible with my 28-105mm Nikkor lens that I primarily use in animations, as the 6D has a full frame sensor. I've been looking around for a good, zoom, macro lens (near the 200mm range) but haven't had much luck at finding inexpensive equipment. Anyone here shooting full frame and have some suggestions?

Re: Full Frame DSLRs

alright i cant tell if it's actually incompatible or just broken cause i dropped it in the spring and the thing is all broken huh.

edit: yeah I tested between full frame and crop sensor and it's definitely not working. Internet says it does work so I dunno what's going on. Still open to suggestions.

Re: Full Frame DSLRs

Are you unable to shoot with your old camera? I feel like crop sensors are better for brickfilming. 200mm range isn't normally designed for macro photography and this you will not find many lenses. Therefore, the ones you do find will most likely be expensive.

Re: Full Frame DSLRs

Yeah, I may have to keep using my old camera for brickfilms, at least until I can invest in a proper lens. All I've found are $1000+

Re: Full Frame DSLRs

Yeah the lens I use for brickfilming costs $1300. I think lenses are a good investment. They have a huge affect on your image and a good lens lasts a while. No point having a fancy camera and a cheap lens.

Re: Full Frame DSLRs

Absolutely. I think for now I'll be using the 6D as a medium-wide lens and my T3i for close ups and zooms.

Re: Full Frame DSLRs

If I were you I would get the Nikko 105mm macro lens, they tend to run around $200 on ebay and should have great quality, add some lens extentions for more close up work, prime glass is really good and a lot cheaper then a modern zoom lens, you could get a few older nikkor primes for the price one one modern lens. (I don't shoot full frame but the lenses will work, they were made for 35mm cameras)

Re: Full Frame DSLRs

If for no other reason, I would favor crop sensors for stop motion because shallow DOF is something you're generally battling in LEGO animation (closeups especially) to begin with, and full frame sensors make it more difficult to get things in focus.

Re: Full Frame DSLRs

If you are looking for a 200mm look into the 200mm f/4 Micro-Nikkor AI-s, you can crank it down to f32 if you need to aND it runs $250 - $400 on ebay. I still suggest extention rings and, but you will need f32 if you do use them.
