Topic: Shooting & Editing in Ultra HD (2.5k, 3k, 4k etc.)

So after browsing the forums for a while, I haven't really found a thread which is purely for creating brickfilms in a higher-than-1080p resolution.
I figured I would create this thread to help users who want to create films in Ultra HD resolution or to share their knowledge on the topic (If I have overlooked an existing thread that is similar to this, I'll understand if one of the mods chooses to close it, but hopefully that won't be the case).

An introduction to 4k
(For a more in-depth article on 4k (2160p) resolution click here)
4k is defined by the number of horizontal pixels in an images (4096>4000>4K).  This resolution is 4 times that of standard 1080p and therefore much higher quality.

Why shoot 2.5k or above?
With 4k TVs and Monitors soon to take off, I believe it best to shoot your own films in the highest resolution you can to future proof them.  While it does take more space on your computer and longer to render, the results can be fantastic.
My THAC 11 entry was shot in 4k!

To shoot in 4k, you'll need:

  • A camera with a minimum of 9 megapixels (10+ is best)

  • Video editing software capable of handling 4k (Adobe Premiere is what I'd recommend, and will be what I use for any tutorials)

  • A reasonably powerful computer (Recommended minimum: 8gb RAM, Quad Core Processor, Nvidia GT40 Graphics Card, 200+gb HDD space).

I'll post a tutorial on here of my 4k workflow if enough people are interested.  These tutorials will also work for 2.5k or 3k.
