Topic: Voice Synthesizer

I'm currently interested in finding a good way to create synthesized voices for brickfilms.  Kinda like Stephen Hawking or the chat from Goat Simulator or Moonbase Alpha.  Something that sounds mechanical and not really human.  It might be good to have for a robot type character or something.  It would have to be something free to use for whatever purpose, though.  Preferably with a few different voice options.

I'm not currently planning anything with synthesized voices, but it would be good to know for future reference just in case I needed a robot.  Particularly if I wanted to make a THAC or BRAWL film about robots I could save a ton of time by not having to record anything for the robot characters.

If you want it to read some premade text turn it on, then open the window with your text and highlight whatever you want to to read.

Re: Voice Synthesizer

I don't know if this is what you're looking for, but if you like the old-style Windows 98 voices like Microsoft Sam, Mike, and Mary, this could be for you. It's called Speakonia, and you can install the old Windows 98, 95, and XP voices (links available on the FAQ page) into it, also it comes bundled with some voices. There's a robot voice in it if you like the pure robot voice.

Re: Voice Synthesizer

Windows narrator has a pretty decent female voice, though something about the male voice doesn't sound very good.
As of yet, I haven't been able to find the sort of robotic voice I really want.
Anyone else know of anything?

Re: Voice Synthesizer

I have a few goodies of my own.  Microsoft Anna is one of them.  Also, there's a nice one in Fruity Loops 8 that sounds like Stephen Hawking and various other voices.  A real old version of Goldwave has the MECHANIZE feature.  DOD makes some nice analog units.  There are a few VST ones that are freeware.  I have to look them up, but I used one in my Atari remix of my song "Michelle Malkin".  There devices and software are called "Vocoders".
