Topic: Brickfilming Social Media Promotion Drive

This is my idea to get all of our videos promoted effectively. The social media promotion drive.

So I have a Reddit, and the plan is to get the Brickfilming community to support each other over there. Some of you may be aware that a lot of the videos that go viral now days get that way because of Reddit. That's because there is very much a mob mentality. If something is good, it floats. Bad, it sinks. People have achieved millions of views from a Reddit post.

Each day, I will be linking to one of your videos on a relevant subreddit. I will then post a link to the Reddit post, where I encourage the rest of you to give it an upvote and comment on the thread so more Redditers can see it. I will go through and change out the link to the Reddit post after a week.

So how do you enter your video to the drive? Simply share my channel anywhere, and post a link to your video. I will the put each video onto a queue.

You can also recommend a subreddit for me to be posting films into. Also, if you have a suggestion on how I can improve this drive, let me know.

This sounds excellent, KB! Can you explain a bit more about how reddit works please, as I'm really unfamiliar with the site (I only went on once when there was a Joss Whedon Q and A).

Reddit is a large group of forums (subreddits) that share the same branding. Like any forum, the more activity on a post, the more it gets noticed. With Reddit's size, if a post gets noticed more, it will become popular in the subreddit first. As it does that, it may start to get so popular it appears on the front page of Reddit. If you get to the front page of Reddit, then millions of people will see the post, and thousands will actually get involved with it. The big thing with Reddit is that a lot of people reblog from it. So whilst lots of people see the Reddit posts, lots of people also share Reddit posts.

I'll start. Can you redditize Vampire Owls please? I have now tweeted you. My twitter is only followed by 28 people, most of which are on this site anyway, but my social media pages don't have many followers anyway.

I'm not sure I understand- what is the incentive for letting you submit the films, as opposed to submitting them ourselves? I can perhaps see the benefit of having a centralized account for community involvement, but the same thing could be accomplished in a more sustainable fashion by creating a subreddit specifically for this effort and allowing users to link to their posts in other subreddits there.

For the record, there's also /r/brickfilms (moderated by forum member Hazzat) if you're looking for places to post your films. It doesn't have the momentum of the general video sharing subreddits, but I'm sure they'd appreciate some new submissions.

Well once one account gains momentum, then you can get your videos on the popular account mini/smile

If you guys aren't posting your stuff on reddit you need to think about it.  There tends to be no real community but you're not there for that.  You get ZERO feedback and ZERO comments but reddit is far and away the greatest source of traffic to my youtube site - more so than this forum or other brick forums I shan't mention.

You don't need to be a reddit fanboy - just get a free account for posting purposes.  Your exposure will be multiplied.

Another person could also set up a separate queue for people to submit films they would like to be reddited? Might help take a little weight off Kieren and potentially cover more ground.

I'm fine with what I have now, but if it gets really popular, then I'll be open to suggestions and more hands on how I can make it more efficient. Now though, it's really not a lot of work.

Also, for anyone wanting their video in this drive, anyone can. Just make sure you share my channel, since I don't work for free mini/tongue
