Topic: What's up with 6:5?!
Did you ever wonder why The Lego Group chose 6:5 as the width-to-height proportion for the standard Lego bricks? Wouldn't the engineering be a lot simpler with 1:1? I think 1:1 would have made more sense, but I'm sure there was a reason they chose the proportions they did. But why? Does anyone know the answer?
I also wonder, in an alternate history, TLG chose a 1:1 proportion, would thy have chosen 5:5 to the 6:5 brick, or 6:6 to the 6:5 brick? Of course, there is no way of knowing, but I speculate.
