My input on the star wars blasters are okay for filming, but outside of brickfilming it makes me uncomfortable shooting them at my fig. I'm scared the blast will scratch the paint on the fig. Same with the cannons.
please give your input on this. 
They are a pretty nifty play feature for kids, I know some TFOLs will enjoy them too! I welcome the change, more variety, and they can be used in many situations, I can see mocers and customisers having a blast with them! And about you saying they will scratch off the print on your figures; they shouldn't. The studs fired aren't sharp or rough enough to cause any printing damage.
Are you talking about the spring-loaded ones?
If so, I don't really think they'd do much damage to a minifigure, it wouldn't be much worse than swishing around minifigures in a box.

What blasters? Pics? Video?
Here's what the new ones look like (all images were found with a Google search, by the way):
You press the gray tab on the top left and it shoots the stud across the room, quite well, I might add. I got both the new Clone battle packs and they work great.
I think they look completely awful though, compared to what they used before that.

Those seem pretty much useless for brickfilming, they look terrible.

What Lego gun DID look super awesome? The old ones looked like a bunch of black sticks sticked together and the new one looks like it's just a cone + a black stick. I think it looks better TBH.
Nice feature that it actually shoots then. Anyone has a video too?
Well Wout, The Brothers Brick has a video (thats a awesome lego blog) And dewfilms I bought a $12.97 Utapau trooper set at walmart which comes with the new blasters. So do the Kashyyyk set, the Utapau set, along with the death trooper set.
Price you my ask, $12 bucks apiece. super cheap. Thanks for the help guys, now i felt safe to buy that set!

Man, I remember when battle packs were $9.99.
those were the good days, but lego knows people will by there sets for that price
I check TBB regularly, apart from the fact that i feel like they only majorly feature known builders and Space models. I'll look it up then.
