I got some with the Chima legend beasts and they're really good for animation, although I haven't used them that much yet. You can see them briefly in this video - they can easily hold the weight of the whole Chima lion, if you look towards the end where it goes up on its hind legs.
Double-post, but here's a link to pictures of all the Mixels coming out this year: http://www.bzpower.com/story.php?ID=6431
So it sounds like the new ball joints are kind of restrictive, but still pretty cool. I'm looking forward to the Mixels, they've got a great selection of parts each and are pretty cheap.
The Mixels look like complete rubbish.
Those pieces. however, could be useful for animating. Perhaps if the crop up in a decent looking set, I might obtain some for building stuff

I dunno', I think they're kinda' cute, but the main draw is definitely the parts. I shall be getting as many as I can (well, only one of each, obviously).

Actually, I got two of the Chima legend beasts and the new ball joints are really, really good. I made a big griffin this morning with them (will post pics later) and it's got so much articulation, yet all the socket are relatively stable. Trust me, you will not be disappointed.
