Topic: Microphones

I'm new(ish) to brick-filming and have not completed a project with sound. I have headphones with a microphone attached, but the sound quality is lacking. There is a significant "fuzzy" sound in the background. What kind of microphone do you all use? How much do these better quality items cost?

(I also have this mic that I stole from the Rossetta Stone langue program my school sent me, cheap mics work fine too I guess).

no more brickfilming *sad face*.

Re: Microphones

I use a mic from a game for the wii, IT works because it is usb

Re: Microphones

I use my phone. It works okay.

I do not brickfilm anymore, but you can see my live action stuff here.

Re: Microphones

I use the Blue Snowball Microphone. It differs from the regular Snowball mainly because there's only one setting as opposed to the Snowball's 3. It's also about $10 less and makes a good mic.

Re: Microphones

I too use a blue snowball now, and will be a solid advocate for its value. Good clean audio for a relatively low price. Definitely good a good choice for amateurs like most of us.

Re: Microphones

There is a topic about this, as I said in the other thread I have a  Audio-Technica AT875R, which you need phantom power to use, the Blue Snowball does seem to offer the best full solution on a budget for most folks.

Re: Microphones

Honestly, other than a few decent USB mics that can be had on the cheap, your best bet is getting a budget interface and a phantom powered condenser.  The MXL 990 and the Audio Technica 2020 are good mics at very cheap prices.
