Re: Brikifilms - A Brickfilming Wiki, NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Okay, I just killed my hands writing an article for Squid on my phone. I'm personally going to try and create a new page a day.

Anyway here's Squid's article! (It's no where near finished and needs an infobox):
http://brickfilming.wikia.com/wiki/Anno … roductions

Feel free to add to it, anyone!

Re: Brikifilms - A Brickfilming Wiki, NEEDS YOUR HELP!

UPDATE:
Okay, I've created some custom infoboxes for brickfilmers and software (and I need to get round to films too). They should make the process of adding infoboxes to pages simpler. Also they have different colour themes to represent the area of the site they are for.  (ie red for the art, green for the films, blue for the community).

I think I will also create a page on how to implement infoboxes on the wiki sometime soon.

Re: Brikifilms - A Brickfilming Wiki, NEEDS YOUR HELP!

UPDATE:
It seems that the wiki has been pretty neglected by everyone (including myself!). I hope there's still interest for this here. Anyway I created a list with a few suggestions of pages that need some editing work doing to them (which anyone can do!) here.

I would love to see this thing take off again and I hope you can create a free wikia account and join in! mini/bigsmile

Re: Brikifilms - A Brickfilming Wiki, NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Sorry I haven't really done much, I've been pretty busy and I keep forgetting about this. It would be great if we could get some more people on board with this, I'm going to try to get myself to remember about this from time to time so hopefully I'll be less neglecting. mini/wink

Thanks for everything you've done, you've definitely helped keep this alive.

Re: Brikifilms - A Brickfilming Wiki, NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Aw man, I forgot about this, I just noticed that I have 3 votes. Who voted for me though. mini/shifty

Re: Brikifilms - A Brickfilming Wiki, NEEDS YOUR HELP!

@MightyWanderer That's no problem mini/smile

@Rocky Congrats! I guess that means you can go ahead and create a page for yourself! mini/bigsmile

Also, I think there may be a problem with the current voting system. It might just be me, but I've recently noticed that you can only vote for one person and then not again for other people until that person is removed from the list.

I think a solution to this would be to move the voting list to a new thread in the wiki's forum function. Posts on their can be 'liked' (similarly to Facebook) and people could reply to the thread with nominations and if people agree then they could 'like' the post nominating someone. The 3 vote rule would still occur, just it would be 3 'likes' instead.

Before I change to this system I was wondering: firstly, am I the only one with this issue? And does anyone else have a better solution!?

Re: Brikifilms - A Brickfilming Wiki, NEEDS YOUR HELP!

That has happened to me aswell... I don't think the Facebook idea would be good though, since some people don't have facebook.

Re: Brikifilms - A Brickfilming Wiki, NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Oh no I didn't mean on Facebook itself! Sorry, I don't think I was very clear mini/smile  - I meant the current list could be replaced by people liking/thumbs upping posts in a thread on the wiki's built in forum, like this:

Re: Brikifilms - A Brickfilming Wiki, NEEDS YOUR HELP!

OOOOHHHHH... I feel like a idiot now.

Re: Brikifilms - A Brickfilming Wiki, NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Somebody went through and trashed the entire wiki.

He destroyed the page I made too. mini/sad

EDIT: Actually, I worked a really long time on that. This deserves a mad face instead: mini/madhead

no more brickfilming *sad face*.

Re: Brikifilms - A Brickfilming Wiki, NEEDS YOUR HELP!

You should be able to revert the edits, it's a pain though.

The vandal responsible was BiM forum member Generalned. I've permanently banned him from BricksInMotion, and whoever curates this wiki should probably do the same with the IP (114.76.201.182 at the time of the vandalism, though obviously he could change it at some point.)

Thank you to Squash for thinking to check the IP with our database.

edit: everything seems to be in order now, it looks like me and this guy have reverted all the damage.

Re: Brikifilms - A Brickfilming Wiki, NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Thanks for your help smeagol (and that guy). I have now blocked that IP from the wiki. Sorry I was unable to help fix his edits. If this happens again on such a large scale, as an admin, I have access to a 'rollback' button that instantly reverts articles back to a previous contributors' edit.

I'm sad that this happened, it feels like all of our work has been spat back in our faces.

Re: Brikifilms - A Brickfilming Wiki, NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Thanks a lot for getting this cleared up so quickly, Smeagol. Also that Obi guy, he was really helpful. I'm really sorry about this, guys, but at least it seems we were able to recover everything. mini/sad

On a happier note, I've been going through the Software page and creating pages for pieces of software that don't currently have one, and I would appreciate it if someone could help me fill out some of these pages with more information.

Re: Brikifilms - A Brickfilming Wiki, NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Thanks for fixing everything guys!

Re: Brikifilms - A Brickfilming Wiki, NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Okay, so in order to allow people to vote for more than one person/film at a time, the lists to nominate people/films for the brickfilmer and films directories are now two separate threads on the wiki's built in forum. The same rules as before  apply, you just have to now click the 'thumbs up' symbol next to people/films you want to vote for rather then 'vote up' them.

The nomination page for the films directory is here:
http://brickfilming.wikia.com/wiki/Thread:2481

And the one for individual brickfilmers is now here:

Re: Brikifilms - A Brickfilming Wiki, NEEDS YOUR HELP!

I've started making some Character pages (I asked BAR first in a message). If anyone would like to take a look and start creating more pages themselves, the first Character page is here: http://brickfilming.wikia.com/wiki/Santa_Claus I thought I'd start with Santa since he's appeared in lots of brickfilms, and is a page lots of people will be able to add to as well as use for inspiration.

Re: Brikifilms - A Brickfilming Wiki, NEEDS YOUR HELP!

I have a 'radical' proposal for the films directory:
Would it be a good idea to allow anyone to a create a page about any film they have made themselves, if they include the things suggested for film pages on the wiki's guidelines page, cite some sources, have an infobox with an image and write at least 200 words?

The reason I think there should be a minimum word count is to prevent a massive influx of stub (very short and not useful) pages  and also to encourage people to only create pages about films that they put work into and that there is actually stuff to write about!

The current criteria and voting system for film pages would still apply if you wanted to create a page about someone else's film.

I think that doing this would allow all brickfilmers to have a place to share information about how their brickfilms were made in detail.

So, does anyone else think that allowing people to create pages about their own films (if they are of a certain standard) without having to be voted would be a good idea?

Re: Brikifilms - A Brickfilming Wiki, NEEDS YOUR HELP!

UPDATE:

I thought I'd just I would just inform everyone on the progress of the wiki in the last month or so...

  • Just Kidden, Jampot, Nathan Wells and Rockdude411 now have wiki pages! Although Nathan's page in particular is looking particularly bare and could do with some additional information.

  • Nick Durron, MindGame Studios, Fancy Pants, Keshen8, David Pickett have received enough votes for a page but do not yet have one. (Feel free to create them each a page!)

  • Some pages have been created for JamPot's BrickFilm Cinematic Universe

I've also created some pages about the German brickfilming community on their forum: BrickBoard, a popular brickfilm resource website BrickTrick and the German Brickfilming festival Steinerei.

In an attempt to get some German help for these I created a thread for Brikifilms on BrickBoard. Although my lack of ability to speak German might make things a little difficult... mini/lol As you will see in the thread.

Anyway, I hope this wiki is kept alive and continues to grow. We now have 76 pages and 21 registered users which I think is pretty good. Special mentions to Pushover, Jampot and Rockydude for their recent contributions!

Feel free to post here if you have any questions about or suggestions for the wiki
