Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

I realy want to enter this contest, I hope i get the time, because I already promised two animations.

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

In regards to the violence, Smeagol means "The Longest Day" not "Saving Private Ryan"

GET DA BOOM MICROPHONE OUT OV MA FAAAACCCEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

Well I am going to still make my film even though it will be quite violent and gory and sexual and what not, I'll just try and cut all them scenes out and enter a crappy version to STAR mini/tongue

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

Okay - just don't release the other version until after the contest is over.  Because that'd be entering the uncensored version by proxy since people will probably want to see the full version.

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

I have the word Crap in one scene, is that also a problem? I can still change it if you want.
(script completed, 1 scene done, 1 cgi scene done, almost all voice-actors... this is going well)

''You don't have to tell him how great is coffee is man!''

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

It doesn't really bother me, my understanding is that in some parts of the world it is considered profanity.  I doubt it'd get you disqualified though.

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

right i have made the first 15 seconds of my film today. im hoping to make 10 - 15 seconds a day and then have time to edit it. mini/bigsmile

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

Then I guess I better remove my line "What the hell..." ?

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

Well it'd probably be preferable.  I'm really just trying to ensure the entries are something we would be OK with the site appearing to endorse should they win the contest.

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

The theme gives lots of oppitunities for creativity. I'll consider entering if I have enough time.

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

I already have 58 seconds of animation (with voices) done.;)

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

Hmm... would a faceless cartoon style space battle with ships being destroyed be considered too violent?

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

I have decided that I am no longer entering this contest because the rules are too restricting on my imagination.

Unless I can make a censored version of my film that is understandable.

No...in terms of violence, blood and gore is the main thing we'd take issue with.

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

are we allowed to release small teaser videos of our film onto youtube.

TIME TOUR: FINISHED!

Re: BiM 2009: STAR [CLOSED]

Yeah, though you may want to wait for the STAR Trailer contest - details on that will be announced in early July.  If you post something now, you can't use that same teaser as your entry for the trailer contest.

When you have finished your entry,  you need to upload it somewhere like mediafire, then you need to PM smeagol using the PM button, and you need to give him a link to your film that you uploaded to mediafire.

To submit your film, send a private message in the BiM forums to username “STAR,” including your name and a link to download the entry. We will accept .avi, .mov, and .wmv formats, please include a version of the video that is 30 megabytes or less, though higher quality versions may be included as well.

Entries may not be made public before the deadline, so YouTube, Vimeo, and other such video websites will not be a good place to upload your film. We recommend uploading your film via a .zip archive to either your own hosting or a file hosting site such as MediaFire. (Here are some other free file hosting sites) Submissions may have been submitted to other contests or premiered for live audiences as long as they have not appeared for a public audience on the Internet.

To upload to mediafire, you need to click "Create a free account", sign up to the site, then click "Upload files" at the top of the site. You will then have the option to upload your film.
