Topic: KicVidz - LEGO video Censoring!?
I wasn't sure what topic to post this under, however, as this doesn't specifically have to do with production, or film in general, I posted it here.
There's this (android only?) app called KicVidz. Here's a link to a video talking about it (Made by The Brick Show, not me): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b88tqBvdryo
As suggested by Jason from The Brick Show, this app can sort through brickfilms on youtube as well. I'm just wondering what other brickfilmers think about this. (Please don't start another violence is wrong/right flame war. This is only for the app, and the effect it may have on the brickfilming community)
Here are some questions I currently have:
#1 - What if the app misses certain videos that are aimed for a child audience? If I made a film that was "clean," I'd want to make sure that others will see it
#2 - I haven't checked into this personally, but: What constitutes as "clean." As previously stated, The Brick Show video said that videos that were approved were shown. What if your video, lets even say a popular one, (just for the sake of argument) isn't approved for months, years, of even is never approved?
#3 - (And probably most important) Will this even effect/what will this do to the brickfilming community? I mean, people like ForrestFire101 won't really be hit, as their videos are already for a more mature audience. But, what if kids' films, made for their friends, aren't seen. This app, if used by more and more people, could sway the likes and views of brickfilms.
I'd like to see what others think, as, though this could just be one of those: hey, look at that cool app, (But then, never install it) kind of things, I think it's something to think about, as, with the way youtube changes every few months, if something like this was implemented, this could become a serious problem for some, and a "free ride to the top" for others...
