I find the best method is to feel the bags (after they removed the bar codes). When you get good at it, you can figure out what minifigure you have almost instantly. You will need time to feel the bags, it usually takes me 30 minutes to an hour, to get about 10 different minigures, from an already picked-through bin at the LEGO store. It will take much less time If you can get a new box that no one has gone through.
Bring a cheat-sheet, I bring a flash card with the name of every minifigure I want. Next to each name I put small doodles of their unique parts to help me remember what I'm feeling for. When I find a minifigure I want, I check them off to remember which ones I have.
I haven't gone hunting for series 11 yet, but I'll post my cheat sheet when it's ready.
Make sure you know what unique pieces each figure has because its not always the big pieces you can identify first. The small pieces are usually easier to navigate through the bag to a place where you can identify it. Make note of which ones have short legs, slope dresses, abnormal heads (like the yeti), and so on.
Ok thanks a ton. so thay don't have bar codes any more.
the code method stopped workin right at like series 2. i've actually never used the code. So i'd say just feel the pieces. You will become an expert at this in time
Just did a quick Google search, I found this.

Looks interesting Thanks a ton.
After nearly 300 mnifigures, I finally found #1, the Conan-type hero with 2 swords. His bump codes are identical to the dumb welder. i just set aside one of every figure so that I can buy all of series 11 without any doubles... except for the Blacktron Mecha and Betty Bot. I do want doubles of them.

Really? at my store those figs grow on trees. I can't find a single islander though.
Islander is the one with the mask? I call him Headhunter but I don't have list of official names. Pretty rare character... but his mask is rubber.

Ya, I like to look for the spear. I need him desperately for my next brickfilm.
