Topic: Ice Planet Film!

This is it, I'm officially starting pre-production on my next personal brickfilm.

No title yet, but it will take place on Krysto - the ice planet.

I just bought all the sets, and I'll post some pics of that soon!

Prepare for action, adventure, and big sets..!

This wont be coming out for a while, but I'll post updates here!

Re: Ice Planet Film!

Yes, this sounds really cool!
Can't wait to see what you come up with! http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p84/UberSocks/54.gif

Re: Ice Planet Film!

mini/delirium I've been waiting for this for so long! I can't wait to see how this develops, I'm sure it's going to be absolutely amazing; Egyptian Holiday is one of my all time favorite brickfilms. mini/bigsmile

Re: Ice Planet Film!

Cool, I love older space themes.

Re: Ice Planet Film!

Wow, I'm really excited about this.
A brickfilm by one of the best animators about one of my favourite themes.

Is this for the LEGO group, or just for fun?

Ah!
I keep skipping over important words. Silly Squid!

Re: Ice Planet Film!

This sounds awesome! I think I only have one Ice Planet set, but it seems like it was a really cool theme. I like the color scheme a lot; especially the trans-neon orange. I think it's really cool when people use the visual ideas in official LEGO products and develop them more (a good example of this is what people do with the Blacktron theme), and I look forward to seeing how you build the sets for this. Good luck with this!

Re: Ice Planet Film!

Also got this guy:

As per the Ice Planet brickipedia:

"Ice Planet 2002 represents a "civilian" space affiliation similar to M-Tron and led by Commander Cold. They were conducting top secret research in rocket science, which made them a target for Spyrius"

Picture that dude rumbling through the ice planet.. sick!

It even has that cool grid pattern sky - should I emulate that?

I aim to please, so gimme some ideas!

Re: Ice Planet Film!

your getting me to excited, stop!

Re: Ice Planet Film!

Nice man! I know that the animation will be perfect but try to figure good plot with differences. And I hope this would be over 10 mins long but of course do how you think best. + I like that theme a lot!

At some point, have a high-speed chase through an icy canyon.  The good guys are on a rover whilst the bad guys are on some flying vehicle.  Bad guys are shooting at the good guys, but on of the good guys gets onto a turret on the back of the rover.

Also at some point, have some really cool ice monster.

Also, make sure that the Ice Planet itself very extremely mysterious and somewhat threatening, so the explorers know very little about it and have only recently set up base.  And make sure it has some really cool, and kinda creepy lighting.

And since this is based off of a classic theme, I think you should aim for a very classic scifi feel for the whole film, kinda like 60s Star Trek or Forbidden Planet.

Grid sky would look very cool if you could pull it off.
It should probably be some sort of shield set up by the explorers.

Re: Ice Planet Film!

Double everything that Squid said, plus:

If you're going to go with a more classic look, and using the old sets and stuff, you may want to consider keeping the landscaping a bit more blocky and chunky. And also trying to expose a lot of studs. Now, I'm not sure if that'll look good or what, but it's something you may want to look into and test around a bit.

I'm thinking a cave scene where the walls are some transparent color and there's light coming from behind them would be really neat. It would give off a really cool "Glowing" vibe."

Cool!  I love ice... and robots!

Re: Ice Planet Film!

This looks pretty interesting! I'm not too familiar with the Ice Planet of Krysto sets. But, I do remember seeing something of the sort of that old LEGO Racers computer game. Like END Films said, it's nice to see people making films that feature older lines of sets.

Have you seen a big-chinned boy?

Re: Ice Planet Film!

I'd like it if you had the grid skies.

Re: Ice Planet Film!

mobiledeli!

When you filmed the film Egyptian Holiday you used real sand and it looked very cool, and I know you won't use real snow, because that's not very good at filming and fast and rushed films are usually bad. But... I still hope that you would use sugar, flours or something else white matter instead of white plates. Then it will look much realistic (I think, my opinion) and I really hope it.

Re: Ice Planet Film!

if you will use non LEGO elements in your sets, it would be great if you could mimic the look of the original Ice Planet backgrounds.  Those looked very cool.

Of course, brick built ice would also be very cool.

Just having sugar though doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

Re: Ice Planet Film!

Ice from HEROSCAPE game would do nicely, but is expensive.   Maybe styrofoam!
