Topic: What do people do to promote their brickflick?

I was wondering how people promote their lego movies?

I have setup a website to help promote mine - and anyone else who posts on the www.brickflick.co.uk forum - as long as their brickflick is good mini/smile

Re: What do people do to promote their brickflick?

Everything! I post it on every website possible (deviantart, BFG, brickfilms.com, all the social networking sites that I am a member of) as well as maintaining a sort of email list.

Re: What do people do to promote their brickflick?

I have a tumblr page, I post here, I do an occassional contest, I also make business card-type color promo pictures and post them around town and brought them to a local Lego event.  Two of my series' characters have Twitter pages: Brent and Melissa.  I actually rarely use them, as I have little enough time.  Brent makes abrasive political comments and Melissa discusses girl problems.

Re: What do people do to promote their brickflick?

I just post my videos on Youtube, (Duh!) here at BiM, The Brickfilmer's Guild, and that's about it.
No Facebook page, no website, no Twitter page, no blog. I hear it ain't hardly worth posting a brickfilm on Eurobricks, (Or Rebrick) as both only get about 100 views and rarely any comments, but I can't think of any other places at the moment.
But there's a reason I don't have that many subs, so don't follow my example if you want fame and fortune. mini/wink

Really, if your animations are good, and you release something on a regular basis, (Which is more my problem) then people will find you and you'll get an audience. BrotherhoodWorkshop is a great example of that.

For promoting them on this site, depending on the film length, I post at least once in the "Frame from your upcoming film" thread, and usually once in the "Sets and props thread." I've also done a poster or two in the respective thread.
I also try to promote stuff via my sig, since it's hard for people to miss it when it's in front of their face all the time.

Setting up your own forum is probably not going to help that much, as people won't find out about the forum until they see your videos elsewhere. It'll probably be better to use that time and effort on other, more established, forms of promotion.

Well, having 145 means your doing something better than me (I'm stuck at 8 ) By the way, thanks for convincing me to film at 15 fps a while ago.It probably helped me get the few subscriptions I have.

Re: What do people do to promote their brickflick?

I have had 30 ish subscribers for roughly 4 years.... But, I dont really promote my films other then YouTube. Might get a fb for my YouTube.

Re: What do people do to promote their brickflick?

Something you can do: if you're on youtube, use your video as a video response to another video of similar content.  I also use as many keywords as Youtube will allow me to.

That sounds like a great idea holding our own

Re: What do people do to promote their brickflick?

It worked; one guy from Germany watched & enjoyed holding our own episode 2 from the keyword "Deutsch".  He wouldn't have found it without that!

Re: What do people do to promote their brickflick?

I don't really, anymore, other than tweet about it. I posted like my first YouTube video over on the LEGO Universe Creation Lab where a few people "followed" me... I've been sitting pretty at around 130 subscribers on YouTube for a while now... I haven't made any brickfilms for ages, though.

it depends on how big and how much time i put into it if i spent a long time on it and its one of my best i will promot it everywhere e.g. google+ twitter facebook my site flickr etc. but if its just something small i might link it to something if im in the mood or just put it out for my subscribers to see

The downside to maxing out your keywords is that YouTube then ascribes less relevance for each tag to your video.

Re: What do people do to promote their brickflick?

I just created my first brickfilm, which was a great expirience. And i shared it to flickr, twitter, mreddit, fb, brickfilms.com, etc. already gained 7 subscribers today! Thought that was pretty cool.
