Topic: Where the Wild Things Are

You know, I never looked at the book and thought "this would make an awesome movie" I mean, the book is what, thirty pages?

Anyway, those who don't know, they are making a Where the wild things are movie. It's live action (which makes a nice change from the slew of CGI films like Horton) and the visuals look nice - very similar to the look and feel of the book.

I wonder what the plot is like?

Re: Where the Wild Things Are

I don't know. I, like you, never would have considered the book for a movie. If I remember correctly there isn't any conflict in the imaginary world in the book, is there? I could have forgotten though.
I think it's an interesting idea, making the Wild Things people in suits and only using CGI faces, and if done well it could easily help sell the nostalgic appeal of the film.

Re: Where the Wild Things Are

I saw the trailer and I thought it was awesome cause I loved the book when I was a little kid (No, I am no longer a kid. Im a teenager).

Changed my siggy.

Re: Where the Wild Things Are

Yeah, i saw the trailer by watching Movie Buzz. I used to read the book a long time ago. Never really thought you could make a two hour movie out of it. They must have added a load of crap...

There, it's under 400 pixels wide, happy mods?
Nope, please don't use a signature image taller than 100 pixels.  Thanks.  (That time it was 150 pixels tall!)

Re: Where the Wild Things Are

I thought the book was kind of creepy when I was little. The movie looks good though.

Re: Where the Wild Things Are

A story about a little kid out in the woods with a bunch of monsters dressed in a bunny suit? How could that possibly be considered creepy? mini/bigsmile

Re: Where the Wild Things Are

I'm completely looking forward to this; it really looks like an original and engrossing film in the spirit of the book.

Re: Where the Wild Things Are

I would love to see the film. It looks like it will either be a tremendous success of a horrific failure, although something seems to hint at the former being more likely.

Re: Where the Wild Things Are

I heard they had to rework the film because the first edit was too creepy for children.

Oh my gosh, that's a complete rumor. Some kids were scared yes, so Warner made Spike add in some more light-hearted scenes.

But Jonze said that in the end he got to make his movie.
