Topic: Gun Flare Help

I've been in the pre-production stage of a new film for about three weeks now, and I'm about to start the filming process. The film includes an intense gunfight, and I need to know something about how to do the gun flares.
(Image by Image, not pre-keyed footage)

How do I put a gun flare in a shot like this?(Sorry about the oversized image)

I use an Image Editor called Acorn, but as far as stop motion goes, it does all the same things as Photoshop can do. (or Gimp)

Thanks!

You may not use the same programs, but the principles of this tutorial would still apply. mini/wink

Thanks, but I know how to do it from a normal shot. I just need to know how to do it from that angle. In the picture I posted, you'd have to insert the flare, and then somehow make the muzzle overlap the flare. How do I hide the flare behind the muzzle to make it realistic?

Re: Gun Flare Help

Create the flare, and then mask out the bit that is covering the muzzle.
You'll need to make an extra copy of each frame, but those can be deleted later.
