Topic: The future of 2D animation.

As a (hopefully) future animator, I found this documentary quite interesting.

Those of you who have seen Wreck-it-Ralph may have also seen a Disney short by the name of 'Paperman'. The interesting thing about Paperman is that Disney created it as a 3D film, using 3D models, then textured it into a 2D film.

Pretty much, they are working on redefining how 2D films are made.

Re: The future of 2D animation.

Thanks for the find! Paperman is easily one of my favorite animated shorts. It's interesting to see how they used 3D to make a 2D film, but it doesn't really look 2D or 3D. It's kinda somewhere in between. Nonetheless, it's still a great achievement in animation. I just hope they don't stop doing traditional hand-drawn animations.

It does look great. Techniques are changing all the time, soon we'll be watching majority of brickfilms in 3D mini/lol
