As a (hopefully) future animator, I found this documentary quite interesting.
Those of you who have seen Wreck-it-Ralph may have also seen a Disney short by the name of 'Paperman'. The interesting thing about Paperman is that Disney created it as a 3D film, using 3D models, then textured it into a 2D film.
Pretty much, they are working on redefining how 2D films are made.

Thanks for the find! Paperman is easily one of my favorite animated shorts. It's interesting to see how they used 3D to make a 2D film, but it doesn't really look 2D or 3D. It's kinda somewhere in between. Nonetheless, it's still a great achievement in animation. I just hope they don't stop doing traditional hand-drawn animations.
It does look great. Techniques are changing all the time, soon we'll be watching majority of brickfilms in 3D
