Topic: You can't just make the Legos [sic] move...

"You can't just make the Legos [sic] move, You have to also make them capture our hearts."  This is the quote, the best that I remember, that appeared on the new season of "The Big Bang Theory".  Raj said this about Leonard's Lego animation on last night's episode (shown for the first time earlier this fall).

Worst show ever.

The episode is a couple years old, though.

Well, if worst shows get to be one of the highest rated shows on television, then yes, it's the third worst show on television after Sunday Night Football and Modern Family.

Not sure what this thread is about but I thought it was a pretty good show mini/smile
I haven't seen much of it lately though

Not sure what the argument is, here. Terrible movies, television, games, books, etc. achieve great popular success frequently.

That said, I don't really care enough about BBT to make an argument out of it. I've just watched a significant amount of the show and really disliked it.

Please tell me you're not using the high ratings = high quality argument, Lech. By that logic, Glee and Jersey Shore must be two of the best shows ever made.

While I can't speak to the overall quality of Big Bang Theory as a whole, the one episode I have seen, the pilot, ranks among the worst things I've ever seen, ever.

Re: You can't just make the Legos [sic] move...

Big Bang Theory... Ugh. It strains me to even think of that show.

Re: You can't just make the Legos [sic] move...

Big Bang Theory? Isn't that the show with Morgan Freeman? How can you hate anything with Morgan Freeman?

Yes I am, you got a problem with that?  But in all seriousness, there are other factors involved.

My argument here is that your opinions are the minority and given that you've only watched one or few episodes, your opinions are less than informed.  "By that logic", Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, and Homeland are the worst shows ever and I've never seen one episode of any of those shows.

Having watched all of BBT thus far, my opinion is that it appealed to the nerd culture at first, but most of the characters have since evolved from their stereotypical geek/nerd archetypes (some getting married, finding a girlfriend, becoming more social, or stayed pretty much the same).  As such, it's lost its appeal and has become another multi-character sitcom.

Re: You can't just make the Legos [sic] move...

Ratings don't mean much. It depends on the network, on the air time and etc. gosh some shows get the praise after they are finished (Star Trek TOS for example). By your logic Two and a Half Men is a high quality sitcom which BTW is not. Big Bang Theory is ok, but I think it's overrated, I do enjoy sitcoms though so I watch the show every once in a while.

Re: You can't just make the Legos [sic] move...

Detects possible Game of Thrones insult... *goes ballistic*

Don't unleash my inner nerd-rage, guys. While something like Game of Thrones is indescribably fantastic (seriously, read the books and/or watch the show), Big Bang Theory is far from it. It is smothered by sub-par, unfunny, predictable situations, which reflect the worst aspects of American 'comedy'. It's true that I have no love for American sitcoms, and this is a prime example of such. It's really quite a dreary show, in terms of humour (black comedy, stand-up, sketches, and Captain Mannering-esque are my preferred types).

Maybe we should rename this thread the "Big Bang Theory discussion thread"
You know, because everybody seems to have so much to say about it...

Correct about ratings not = quality.  But I actually like the BBT.  However, Modern Family IS a highly rated show that stinks.  The point to my post was that the Big Bang Theory, whether you like the show or think it's terrible, did make a cool reference to Lego animation!

Re: You can't just make the Legos [sic] move...

I can't see this argument going anywhere since it seems like almost everyone here expects deep story out of everything they watch. Since most people here are really into the details of films and shows, I can't see a discussion about network television going anywhere productive.

Actually I enjoy Modern Family more than BBT.

Re: You can't just make the Legos [sic] move...

It's funny how this show is called "Big bang theory", and yet never even mentions the actual Big Bang Theory.
And PLEASE don't start a religious discussion because of what I just said.

Actually, they mentioned it in the first episode.  And that's all I remember.

Meh. Not a fan of the show, not a fan of this thread.
