Topic: Sound Design

I have recently discovered the amazingly entertaining world of designing sound for my videos. If anyone else enjoys this aspect of making brickfilms (or films in general), this is the place to discuss it! Enjoy!

LEGOs, Soccer, Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream and other completely irrelevant things.

Re: Sound Design

I think it's fun, having been in two bands since 1988, and having been interested in the nature of sound, giving many of my recordings an experimental feel. While working on my first lego film, I thought about the sound effects, music, because I wanted there to be lots of music, and my decision to include a laugh track.  But though I love making and recording music, mixing & mastering is something I'm only leaning now how to do well.  Deciding what sound effects to use, and how to make them is fun and a challenge.  I include sounds from Hanna-Barbera and WB libraries, but also make my own.  If you watch the park scene in holding our own episode 1, the sound of the rabbit's ears popping up sounds like a looney Tunes sound, but I actually made it by mouth!  I used synthesizers to make lots of the other animal sounds.  Footsteps are muted bass drums.  I cover a bit of the audio design on the commentary track on the holding Our Own Episode 1 DVD.

I love your ADU video!
