Topic: Has anyone else gotten a virus from downloading MonkeyJam?
I recently downloaded MonkeyJam and now there are ads popping up at almost every site I go to. Has this happened to you guys and if so, do you know how to get rid of it?

Did you download it from the official site?
If so, it's probably something else that's doing it, since I've never heard of MJ doing that before.
EDIT: Oh yeah, run a virus scan and look at what it brings up. Depending on the sites you visit, it may not even be a virus that's doing it.

I don't think I downloaded from the MJ site. I think I downloaded it from either softpedia or softonic.
Download AVG now! Download the free version, works perfectly!
Run scan and it should detect it and destroy it....

Yeah, in the future I'd advise going straight to the source. MonkeyJam isn't malicious, but sites that rehost it can be. Obviously you won't want to rely on this metric alone, but if a site has more than one big button that says 'download' in the same area, they're probably not very trustworthy.
The free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware has worked well for me when I needed to remove stubborn viruses in the past. If AVG doesn't pick anything up, you might want to check them out.
Yeah, I recommend downloading programs from the official site. Try running Avast! as well, a good virus scanner.
