Topic: Good Free Animation Software?

I've been testing the waters until I get Dragonframe but any one that I use usually ruins the quality and make it look like I'm taking photos with a potato. And for now I'd like to know about the freeware you use other than Monkeyjam.
Note: It has to be able to import photos into it. Not like a live view of a webcam since I'm using a T2i. I have an HP Pavillion dv6000.

The video section of that list is where you'd want to look. I don't have any experience with using high-end cameras, but I'm doubtful that most free software will work well with the T2i. I'd imagine there's a good reason people move to Dragon once they buy a DSLR.

I know about that list but its outdated. I found when I clicked on most of the links they either didnt exist, were old and not reliable, or not free anymore. I just wanted to see about other ones.

Re: Good Free Animation Software?

As far as I can tell, the only dedicated stop-motion program that has a broken link there is Keysoe (I'll remove it in a bit, unless I can find a new mirror). As far as old and not reliable go- as much as it pains me to say it, we get what we pay for. Most niche (animation focused) free software that isn't developed by a large company tends to hit a point where the developer runs out of time or motivation. Unstable releases come with the territory.

Anyway, I don't know of anything that isn't listed there, so I'll step back and see if someone who follows the software scene can help you out.

You could try Stop Motion Recorder. You'll need a Windows or Unix machine with Java installed. It's a bit touchy, but has a lot of good features considering it is free.
