I had to use Motion for some client work a couple of years back.
I will never touch that horrid and unintuitive piece of software again, if I can help it.
Oh wait, that Motion.
I've used it for video class at school, getting the effects we we required to have in a project from its "Particle Emitters" folder.
(Those effects are incredibly cheesy and don't even fit cartoons, and we had to put them on live-action.)
I don't know if it's even meant to be an editing software, because we use only Final Cut Pro for editing. If it is, then it must not be that good because we didn't use it for editing.
It only really works well for muzzle flares, smoke, etc...
