Re: DISNEY BOUGHT LUCASFILMS AND STAR WARS EPISODE VII!

To be completely honest, I'm not excited or enraged towards this development. I see potential for something great as well as potential for something that's a horrid abomination to the franchise. I'm just going to file this in the back of my mind, probably forget about it until the hype comes back, and then watch Episode VII with no expectations that it'll suck or be epic.

That comes to a total of $0.02, no tax.

Oh yeah, I'm sort of back, not that anyone cares.

Sorry to say, but...

In which case, I have lost all hope in Star Wars (not that there was any hope to begin with)

Sure you won't find a new hope?

Ahh, it's good to be back.

Re: DISNEY BOUGHT LUCASFILMS AND STAR WARS EPISODE VII!

I'm not entirely sure if they'll make the movies; I wouldn't be totally surprised if that happened. Although that probably doesn't happen in the filmmaking industry as often as it does with me...otherwise I dislike the idea, but look what happened with The Avengers; the best Marvel film at the time for sure. But I don't think this could happen with Star Wars, the worldwide known saga we all grew up with. I don't really care about this much. Would I watch it? As I am a Star Wars fan, yes. But I think that it's just much better if we watch our favorite Star Wars films whenever we want, wether it's the prequels, or the sequels, and that's just better than if they make more films. Oh, and also, if they make it, and John Williams will not be composing the score, I will hunt them down and kick their ass.

Wanna know what I hate? When people complain about Episodes 1,2 and 3. They're not just a pile of junk. The third one was actually pretty good. In my opinion.

Personally, I hate the second one and quite dislike the third one because of Hayden Christensen. In my opinion, Anakin is supposed to be a character you come to love and follow him on his journey of growing up and becoming a Jedi, even though he often makes mistakes. However, Hayden Christensen makes him seem like this slimy, weird dude who makes mistakes all the time and makes you scream "YES!" when Obi-Wan leaves him in the lava.

Maybe with good people involved something good could come of it. Steven Spielberg has expressed interest in doing a Star Wars film in the past

I really, really, really, really have wanted that to happen.
Wow, that would be so awesome.

Me too.

Hayden Christensen's acting was bad in Episode II, but he was much better in Episode III, in my opinion.

That's because he talked a lot less. In general, people are less annoying when they don't talk, although there are a few exceptions.

Here are my theories.

1) I thought the scene in Return of the Jedi, with the Ewoks dancing, would be "the end of the end". I didn't expect them to go and tell what happened before, and I thought there wasn't anything more to tell.

2) The CGI sort of made the "oldie-classical" look of the original episodes (with Jabba the Hutt being merely a large puppet, and not from the magic of visual effects) look "pre-historical" to those picky moviegoers.

3) I also had to give a laugh when the MPAA decided to give Episode III a PG-13 rating. I thought Star Wars was supposed to be that family-friendly (yet, still have its fair share of sci-fi violence) film franchise that everyone knows and grew up with.

I don't think The Phantom Menace was that bad, but I really didn't like Attack of the Clones. Anywho, Episode VII isn't supposed to be released until 2015, then we won't know what the storyline is for quite a while. But, if it were up to me, we all know how Luke and Leia started off. So I'd like to know a little bit about how Han Solo started off. mini/eh

Re: DISNEY BOUGHT LUCASFILMS AND STAR WARS EPISODE VII!

I told this whole mess to my friend and he thought they will make the knights of the old republic , and im sure they will just do that because all the cast would be to old to act , even mark Hamill is too old.

also there is only two games about the knights of the old republic and a couple of books.

But what will happen to Lucasarts , probably the same?

Re: DISNEY BOUGHT LUCASFILMS AND STAR WARS EPISODE VII!

At the end of the day Lucas created something classic. He engineered so much new tech like Dolby, THX, The digital camera the Pixar machine and so forth. I cannot understand the hate towards him but everyone is entitled to there opinion and I wont begrudge them that. Ya he has released the trilogy over and over and tinkered but 1: People keep buying them so why not keep doing it.
2:It is his baby and he has every right to go back and tinker with it just like anyone else going back to tinker with something they have done until they like it.
George Lucas created a medium that will never ever again be duplicated and we should applaud him for that.
The prequels were not perfect but face it how do you top something as special as Episodes 4 to 6.
Yes I am a huge Star Wars fan and am bias but am open minded as well.
I am the first to say yay Disney give us another three movies and with what they have done with Marvels properties IE The Avengers you can say it is in good hands.
I hope they tread carefully now with the trilogy in there hands and bring in some very smart Star Wars writers to help it go forward.

These pretty much sum it up:

Mod edit: These videos make a good point, but they're also chock full of coarse language and blue humor. Viewer discretion is advised.

Look, they're fine as action movies, like, idk, almost everything Hollywood makes, lots of explosions, guns and violence, but in all other aspects of what a movie is, they essentially fail. No, they just really fail, especially compared with the original trilogy...(and don't ask for my reasoning if you haven't watched at least the first ten minutes of the first video, because, as I said, they say all there is to say.)

Re: DISNEY BOUGHT LUCASFILMS AND STAR WARS EPISODE VII!

Thanks for posting the Plinkett reviews, I was just about to do that. mini/tongue
It's not the same with the PG 13 though... .  -  .
But yeah, basically the prequels had awful character development and dialogue, extremely boring cinematography for the most part (seeing as all the dialogue was done in shot-reverse shot) and the story made no sense at all.]
On top of which (Plinkett covers this near the end of his episode 3 review) there are loads of shots and ideas ripped out of the original trilogy.
Though now, as George isn't directing Star Wars any more, who knows, these could be good.

He really did say that at the beginning though (the part about never having more Star Wars films after he dies or retires)

Re: DISNEY BOUGHT LUCASFILMS AND STAR WARS EPISODE VII!

I'm not going to judge Episodes 7, 8, and 9 until they have a trailer released. My only thought is how they can continue the story, even if Lucas had something. It's kinda wrapped up for me, at least.

You can do anything, just have fun while doing it.

Re: DISNEY BOUGHT LUCASFILMS AND STAR WARS EPISODE VII!

Apparently there were scripts for 7, 8, and 9 DJM...
