Couldn't give it much higher than 2/5. Animation was average at best, the whole thing just seemed rushed and sloppy.

Yea I know it was. I'm just trying to get back into animation I know it sucks 
Just watch some well-made brickfilms, as well as some tutorials. The trick is to learn what others have done, then refine your own technique based on that.
It seems to work for me
