Topic: Help with Face Animation in Adobe After Effects

Hello everyone,

I just recently purchased the Adobe Production Premium CS6 sute which came with After Effects and I am slowly beginning to learn it. I have a short film coming up that I want to implement facial animation into for a few scenes and was curious as to how it is specifically done. Starting with creation of the face image itself, right down to blending it onto the head and tracking. I've had some people tell me some specifics about the process but I was curious if someone could provide a bit more information as well as some tips. So, if you have Adobe After Effects and have done Face Animation I would be very grateful for the sharing of your wisdom. Thanks!

In Dual Digital Media's The Button, facial animation was used, and I particularly like how it was done there. DDM uploaded a Behind the Scenes video, which showed how they did the faces. I don't own AE myself, so I don't know how hard this technique is, but I hope it's useful to you!

Try this tutorial: http://library.creativecow.net/articles … _synch.php

I take a picture of the face I want to animate and I start by tracing it. Once that's done, I make the rest of the phonemes as separate layers. Then, I export it into Adobe Illustrator, then into photoshop, and finally into After Effects. All you need to do now is follow the tutorial.
