Topic: DAZ Software

Several of the guys here use Carrara, I know, but I was wondering if anyone's given DAZ Studio a try. If so, I was also wondering if perhaps someone could tell me just what it does, and how good it is. I get that it's good for avatar creation, and a bit like Poser, but how versatile is it? I'd really like to know before I download it. It looks good, but I want to get the facts straight.

Thanks again,

-Jampot

Re: DAZ Software

Hi Jampot.  I've been using Daz now for most of this year and find it a great piece of software.   I think the Pro version is still free to download and their content market is also pretty good (and reasonable).  It's very similar to Poser which I used for a little while last year.  You can animate with it I believe but have not gone down that route yet.  Their support forum is fantastic as I had issues installing the content at first and they reply very quickly and helpfully.  You can export the models and put them into software like Vue and Bryce or you can render them within Daz if you wish.

I personally use it with Vue which is an amazing pice of landscape software, again with a brilliant online community.  Here's one of my images which was posed in Daz and exported and rendered in Vue 9

Hope this helps
