Topic: OYO Video Challenge (Results!)
OK Everyone- the results are in (albeit a little late)
Let me preface this by saying that it was much harder to judge these videos than anticipated due to the amount of great submissions we received. Because of this we added 3 Runner Up rewards for videos we thought deserved a reward but didn't place in the Challenge
I want to thank everyone again for being a part of this Challenge and helping OYO to grow as a company. We hope to stay an active part of this community and we are already thinking about what we can do as our next Video Challenge, taking what we've learned from this activity into account.
And without further adieu, here are the results for the challenge. Because you are artists, we wanted to list our reasoning behind each decision (both the good and the bad aspects of the video) with the hopes that we don't offend anyone with our observations!
Gold: If Only I Had Elbows and Knees
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfpIyZg26yY
We thought this was the most well rounded, self-encapsulated video that clearly demonstrated the features and benefits of our product. We had a hard time choosing between If Only I Had Elbows and Knees and The Contract, but in the end Elbows won because we thought it was more polished.
Elbows and Knees lost some points in our book for not having a lot of actual stopmotion time on the OYO, but it made up for it by having the characters in an immersive building block environment. Both videos had an original idea and little details that we kept noticing on rewatches that added replay value. We also found that for some reason Elbows was the most engaging in keeping our attention from an initial click to finishing the video. Little details like facial animations/expressions added value to the video, and we also thought it was the video that made the best use overall of audio (both music and sound affects) to capture attention. And the quality of the animation was very good!
Congratulations to BigBudLego on winning Gold!
Silver: The Contract
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qs1pOkGcvaU
We thought The Contract was the most humorous video and the video with the most depth. The environment was extremely immersive and the amount if stop motion extensive. It had many little details we noticed on multiple replays and great quality stop animation. It showcased the features of our product, and met all the other requirements but ultimately when compared as a whole it felt slightly less polished. We found the video engaging, but slightly less so than Elbows. However it remains a favorite of many of our staff for its humor and excellent execution.
Congratulations to PritchardStudios on winning Silver!
Bronze: Pinch Hitter
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRQPT3dQBUA
We thought Pinch Hitter was a great video because it also featured an immersive environment, and did a great job of showing the features of our product in a pronounced way but without being too obvious. We also thought it was pretty funny and just plain cool! Compared to some of the other submission it seemed like the animation was not quite as smooth, but we think it deserves Third Place for its originality and humor.
Congratulations to TheFuntasticFilms on winning Bronze!
Runner Up: Stopmotion Tribute to Chipper Jones
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxE8XMV2sv4
The Tribute to Chipper Jones was a great video that showcased the features of our product, and was close behind the other videos with its great animation. Our only advice is we thought the cuts to black slides detracted from the audience engagement somewhat, and compared to the other videos the environment did not seem quite as immersive.
For placing as a Runner Up, we'd like to send TheFourMonkeys an additional minifigure of their choice!
Runner Up: Power Pitcher
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaSyAKNQoqI
We thought Power Pitcher video had the best overall cinematography by using cool camera angles and great special effects, however we felt it did not show off the features of our product as much as we would have liked, and it's overall length was shorter than many other submissions. But for its quality and sheer cool factor it is clearly a runner up.
For placing as a Runner Up, we'd like to send ZachFBStudios an additional minifigure of their choice!
Runner Up: New Kid
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=13zECyDpBhQ
The New Kid was right behind Pinch Hitter in our results for its combination of environments and humor. We thought the idea and humor were great, but somehow the video was slightly less engaging than the others in the Top 3.
For placing as a Runner Up, we'd like to send SeanDoubleJ an additional minifigure of their choice!
