Topic: Drafting and Scripting Troubles

I have been trying lately very hard to create a short story for a brick film, and to be quite honest, I haven't gotten anywhere. I was wondering if anyone could give me a few pointers on how they write stories because I've been trying for about four or five days with zero progress.
I have no problem formulating shots, angles, and other detail oriented aspects of a story but it's hard to get s good one going. I've listened to music, sat in silence, watched movies, etc. to try to get the juices flowing with no avail.

Re: Drafting and Scripting Troubles

I like writing stories. That's why norwegian is my favourite subject at school. If I need a story, I just sit down and write, while I'm trying to make the story sound awesome and exiting. And if you start writing, the ideas might come while you're at it. If you can't get any ideas, give it some time. Come up with a basic outline and spend time trying to make it better.

Just go on with your normal day. If you just take time and relax, ideas will start flowing in. Then, when you have a few ideas, write them down and archive them, so whenever you need an idea, pull out your list and start writing.
(At least, this is what I do, hopefully it helps you.) mini/smile

Edit: Oh, and make sure to carry around a notebook of some sort, so if an idea randomly pops in your head, you can write it down without forgetting it.

Yep a little notebook where you write great ideas is very useful, I usually manage to come up with some good ideas then later I forget them and I feel really bad about it.

Developing a story can be very challenging and exhausting. Don't rush it. I once wrote a really really good script for a 30 minute movie (in 9th. grade) and I gotta say ever since then I couldn't keep up with my own standards and everything else that I wrote was either cliche or just extremely dull IMO sometimes these golden ideas just pop in your head and the bad thing is you can't decide when mini/bigsmile just try to develop a story by deciding the basic plot and then fill it in with details. If you want the viewers to be introduced to the characters deeper write in a scene or two just for character development (with them talking, expressing they're point of view and their philosophy or something like that.). Most importantly, keep on writing, eventually you'll write something really good.
