just the same old lightsaber fight, I just did it as a test to see how good the lightsaber effects and all I could do....

Feedback welcome...

Here's feedback: Check your spelling, especially when you're crediting someone.

Pacing is hit and miss but good use of the skeleton fig.

Seriously people, if it's a test animation, put it in the WIP forum instead of cluttering up the Directory.

Re: Knights of the old republic

Bad lighting, choppy, light flicking, no masking in the mask parts. I'm disapointed.

Re: Knights of the old republic

Why must you weigh down Releases,he already has a huge ball made out of all the films submitted here, and you add a test video on his shoulders, making him strain even more.
But Mr.Wip's and tests barely carries anything, since most people put the weight of a test video on Release's shoulders.
Anyways,back on topic:
I could see those bricks you tried to mask with, you didn't erase them. mini/confused
Some parts were a bit rushed, and there were camera bumps( mini/devil ).
3/5.

Re: Knights of the old republic

why no matter how hard I try no one ever has anything nice to say about anything I do..........

I can mask, just as this was a release of low importance I didn't bother masking them, with regard to the light flicker, first, I can't see it, and second, I filmed at day because I didn't have anything else to do...

when someone does work that they are proud of and it's pulled apart and scorned at by people in the community they release it in to, it doesn't help them want to improve, it only helps them want to stop.... and what ever you lot say, its still my animation with the highest number of views in the first 12 hours....

But this isn't a release, it's a test, you even said it yourself. Tests and WIPs are supposed to go in the WIPs and Tests' Sub-Forum, but you've been a member on this site too long for you not to know that. You continuously post tests in the Release's sub-forum, and it's starting to annoy many of the members of this site, who go to the releases to see, well, releases.

So you don't like a proper and accurate breakdown of your film? You only care about how many views it's received? I just don't understand why you think you're being attacked when people are only helping you improve and become a better brickfilmer.

As for the test, it needs a lot of work done. The animation was choppy, there were camera bumps and light flicker, and the lightsaber effects weren't very well done (It seems like you had trouble when the saber went behind the minifigs; you might want to check out some masking tutorials to help you out). I know it's a test, but you still need to improve on a lot of areas before you worry about something heavy like lightsaber effects.

I don't have notice anything.  It's still misspelled, Alpha, I mean Alfa.  Just something to keep in mind in future animations, assuming you're done complaining about getting helpful (sometimes harsh) criticism.  If you want OMG THAT"S SO F@CKIN' URSEOM! feedback, you're not getting it here.  Ghost being the exception mini/rolleyes

I think you're going to an extreme, just look through the threads for your other movies and I believe that you'll remember that not every comment that has been posted is negative. We (The BiM community) are here to help other people improve their fims. And at the same time, see how our's could be improved. Everyone has room to get better, some may be more advanced than others, but we all can get better.

If you got a record number of views with this video, that means it's not being pulled apart by everyone. And if this would have been relesed in the WIP and Tests forum, and you would have said that you weren't working on your masking at the moment, then many of these comments wouldn't be here. And then you would get feedback on the parts of the clip that you wanted feedback on, and not a bunch of comments about the lack of masking. (Which wasn't your focus with this clip.)

Those effects that you wanted feedback on were, I think, the lightning and lightsabers, which did look good.
I think the main problem is that people were expecting a clip that was "final", with all the effects finished.
When the masking was not done, they assumed this was supposed to be a completed clip, and then commented on the aspect that wasn't complete.

I think the reaction would not have been what it was, should this have been placed in WIP and Tests.
But I have to agree with Lechnology, the feedback here will not always be what you want, but if we all said every movie that we ever saw was perfect, then no one would improve, or bother to put forth much effort, and the art of Brickfilming would probably die.

Re: Knights of the old republic

just a point to most of you, "THIS MOVIE SUCKED" is not helpful feedback.

i spelt Kevin Macloed the same way he does.

so no one even has any thing nice to say about the title scene??????????????

and something you lot will be pleased to know is that I've since "uped" my frame rate to 15fps from 12fps. and yes, I do know I need to improve my animation, but when all people have to say about ones work is that in short its a waste of time isn't helpful, maybe something along the lines of, "your light flicker was terrible, what I've done to help fix that is...." or maybe "TRY EASING OUT(which is something I must try)" would be kinder then "your animation sucked"

You're still not seeing it?  If it's dyslexia, check your local doctor.

And you're missing the point.  I don't give a !@#$ if someone else likes it or not, it's your like-it-or-shut-up-attitude.  You can get that from your YouTube audience.  Not from us.  And we've given you feedback and tips but all you're doing is plugging your ears and screaming Lalala whenever you read anything with a negative tone.

I will say Lord Lajaka's post was a bit blunt, but that could be due to something lost in translation from our Finnish friend there.

You know how to win this battle you've started?  By shutting up, stop complaining, take all the feedback you find useful and mix it in with your heart and soul into animating an epic film, post it and ask us how we like them apples a la Good Will Hunting.

People will try to tear you down.  You have to have the callous hands and backbone to build yourself back up.

Re: Knights of the old republic

You need to be a little more mature about this Alfa. Who cares if other people hated it or liked it? That's their own opinion on the film. There's other people on this site and on YT who get dislikes on there videos, and yes, some take that as an offense and other people don't even think about it and let it go.

I'm working on getting my studio back up and running, so stay posted...

thanks, I see it now, I'll remember to check that....

and yes that is slight dyslexia......

and with regard to the skeleton fig.... thanks.....

and I'm sorry if you think I have a "shut up if you don't like it" attitude, I just like people to at least acknowledge the nice... or at least the bearable.

Re: Knights of the old republic

The title scene were good, althought they seemed a bit out of place. The animation was smooth, and the light saber effects were well done. Not trying to be all negative, but I understand why some people wish this was in WIPs and Tests. Alot of finished films are pushed down the list very fast by clips that should of been in that section, and end up getting almost no views. (Yes, I have experienced that.) Good work though.

You're still not really getting it. If people aren't giving you positive feedback (Especially after multiple films), that means you're doing something wrong and it's time to fix it. It seems as if you aren't really reading the critique that I, Lechnology, and others are giving you. Remember, this site is about helping you improve as a brickfilmer, as well as enjoying the little shorts- but how can you ever improve if no one points out the bad? As Lech said earlier, you've got to man up, read and accept the criticism, and practice, practice, practice. People will end up giving you more compliments in the long run (Hopefully) if you accept the criticism now and try to improve on what's been said.

I don't mean this as a discouragement to you, but more so as a way of improvement.
