Topic: Why do you brickfilm?
The title says it all. I've been thinking about myself recently (when am I not?), and as anyone who frequents the site could tell you, I don't film often. I was curious why this was, so I did some soul searching and the conclusion I've come to isn't especially startling: I was in it for the profit. This is a hilariously misguided reason to spend time making films with little LEGO men, but keep in mind that profit is relative. For the most part, I just wanted the praise and interest of you people, my peers. Sure, getting a viral hit would be great, but I was never that unrealistic. However, in all my time filming, it never seemed like the amount of attention I received merited the amount of time I spent on a film, and eventually I went from making short films for somewhat long running contests, to making longer films for short contests, and making pieces of ambitious films before abandoning them due to lack of motivation. I wanted praise, but I didn't especially enjoy the work that came along with filming. Now I focus more on other interests that I find more self-fulfilling and only film when the mood hits me. I've come to hypothesize that brickfilming is a somewhat selfless pursuit for the most part, and that the people who do it for the long run either fail to find a hobby that is more 'profitable' (could be monetary, could simply be enjoyment), or have a large success somewhere along the line and use this to encourage further filming.
Anyway, enough about me. I want to know about you! Why do you think you film? Since I'm kind of attempting to analyze this, if you could post in addition: how long you've been filming, how often you release films, and- if you have stopped, why you think brickfilming has lost your interest, it would be a great help. I'm genuinely curious to see what kinds of responses this receives.
