I don't get what it means by "Copyrighted music may be used, but if you so choose, you are permitted to have created original music beforehand."

Basically, you can use copyrighted music AND/OR music you've already made yourself.
So, you can use any music you want actually (unless it has graphic language of course).

Does the letter mod have to be made out of Lego? 
No, it can be printed on the Lego. If you have a sitckered piece that says "Bank" on it, that would be acceptable.

No, you could write it on a brick, write it on a piece of paper, then tap it to the set, etc.

I just released my failed entry. I didn't submit it since it was just... failed. I made it in 6-7 hours...

Ah, good, that's what I figured. The wording was just kinda confusing, and I wanted to make sure I wouldn't get disqualified for using copyrighted music. Thanks for clearing it up.

Yes, graphic violence would mean with blood and gore, and the works. As long as you're putting a fight scene with no blood, you should be fine

Does the mod have to be in every frame, or shot? for instance, if I had dolly to a plant with the mod element, would I get disqualified if the mod wasn't there prior to the plant?
Every shot. I edited the first post again to make that a bit clearer.
