Okay, but it doesn't make sense to but a lego animation as your logo, without a MOD element, for a contest ran that you have to have the MOD element in each shot.

But the Logo it's not really part of the film, animated or not, it's a Logo. The logo isn't made specifically for the contest, the film is.

Whatever, then he should pm Goliathan, because I don't think animating something and putting it as your logo is acceptable, because it's just like a little shot out of a brickfilm.

Re: BRAWL 2011 Results!

That logo rule is silly.

Re: BRAWL 2011 Results!

He's not animating something and putting it as his logo, he is putting his logo and animating it, that's different. The logo it's not the part of the film that is entered in the competition. It's not even part of the film: the fact that it's there or it's not isn't important to tell the story or to make the viewer understand what's the film about. That's the way I think about that.

If it's like a lego logo, then it'd have to have the MOD element in it.

This has never been the case in any previous BRAWL or THAC entries and doesn't make sense, imo.

Credits are not required to have the MOD element present.  However if the logo is included in the actual footage then, yes.

Re: BRAWL 2011 Results!

That's a pretty dumb rule, guy.

How so? If the logo is in the footage the mod element must be present somewhere in the shot, it's the same as if it weren't there.

Re: BRAWL 2011 Results!

I have to agree with KG, many people already have animated logos that they have made before BRAWL, so how would they put the MOD element in?

Re: BRAWL 2011 Results!

Your use of "in the footage" is pretty confusing here.  If it's a stop-mo animated logo then it's gonna have footage in it.

If a film is being judged on the basis of a pre-made logo that the director likes to have in each film, that's pretty illogical. If the logo isn't considered in judging a film's quality, then it shouldn't matter and the director should be able to put it at the start of the film like they would with any other project. Asking people to either re-film their opening logo or omit it seems like a poor decision to me.

Re: BRAWL 2011 Results!

Ah, I see, my apologies. A pre-made logo is considered part of the credits. I thought you were talking about a logo in the background during animation, and I was rather confused.

Re: BRAWL 2011 Results!

I noticed I forgot to put a mod element in a shot, though, there's a guy with black pants walking on a green baseplates. Baseplates are fine, is that correct? I hope it is, I'm not willing to re-shoot that.

I'm a bit confused about whether or not baseplates count in the color mod.

Yes, that's why I'm asking. He didn't say in the rules here, so I'm confused.

Re: BRAWL 2011 Results!

What if I have the MOD element, but its WAY out of focus. I have a night scene and the camera is focused on a minifigures face, so much that the B that's written on a brick looks like a black blob. If I send a picture with the B in focus would that be acceptable?

Yes, but there will be no need to, if the B is really blurry, but still can be read.

Re: BRAWL 2011 Results!

Normally baseplates didn't ever count.  Minifigs count as in two pieces of a minifig attached to each other in the correct colors.

I'm going mostly off of how THAC worked, with more or less identical rules for the MOD elements.

Re: BRAWL 2011 Results!

I don't know if I'll make the deadline, seeing as I'm still animating, but don't fret, I am still making the film.

Re: BRAWL 2011 Results!

So does a Mod need to be in CGI titles?

Re: BRAWL 2011 Results!

Well, the rules say:

Remember that in your credits, the mod elements do not have to be present, unless pictures or videos are included.
