So how's progress?
Um, I'm sure they're busy with other things like school.

I was just asking, it's been a month since they're last update.
*Update*
Sorry it's been so long guys, but things have been pretty crazy around here the last month. Both of us have been having a very busy school year, and thanks to my (BB1) accelerated college statistics class, I have had almost no time to animate. However, we do try to get a shot or two done over the weekend, and we hope that things will slow down soon and allow us to get more done (my statistics class ends mid-November). Hopefully, at the next update, we will be able to post a picture of a new scene (fingers crossed!). Anyhow, thanks for bearing with us, and see you next update!
*Update*
Well, so much for trying to release an update every two weeks. With school and LIFE getting in the way all the time, we seem to be finding it very difficult to put these out. However, to make up for the fact that we haven't put one out in a while, here is a doozy for you guys!
First bit of news is that we finished animating the mountain scene and have begun animating a totally different location (which is always exciting). As usual, new scenes entail new challenges and frustrations, but they are worth it to get to the final product. Below we have an edited picture of the new scene, since we decided to see what the finished product would look like. Here it is:
Please let us know what you think and if anything in the scene seems "off" to you.
The next bit of news is that we have begun editing the mountain scene, and we decided to share with you a bit of the footage from it! Here you go:
Troll: I used to be good at physics...then I took an axe to the face.
The last bit of news is that we have been working on trying to get our CGI to look the very best and as photorealistic as we possibly can. We just recently figured out how to get the depth of field working in Cinema 4D, and we are loving the results! Here is an example pic:
What do you think? Is it realistic enough, or does anything in the scene seem blatantly CGI?
Anyhow, that's all for this update. Also, every picture can be clicked on to see a higher-quality version. So, until our next update...
I don't know what to say... It's just so beautiful!

It's not working for me: ''This file is not yet public''
WOW! GUYS THAT AXE GIF LOOKS SO AWESOME!
This stuff is awesome! I'm glad that you're back working on it!
I'm interested in seeing how that waterfall looks when it's moving. The axe-throw could have been animated better, but the blur effects look nice. The CGI looks really good; probably some of the best I've seen for a brickfilm. Overall, this looks like it's going to be very impressive.
yeah, didnt think the axe went far enough back before it went forward...
but,
still looks epic as. you guys rock.
The GIF is nice, but I really like that waterfall pic.
All those are awesome!!
One problem that I see with the troll GIF is that the ax doesn't go far enough back, and it kinda dips down in the middle. Also, the sky looks really nice on the CGI pic, as does the rest of the pic. Third, the waterfall pic looks lovely, with the light rays, falls, and overall scene. Glad to here that you guys finished the mountain shot, and that you're still going through this vid. Really excited for the final thing!

That waterfall shot looks nice. The light ray could be blended a bit more nicely, but I'm looking forward to seeing the water in action. I feel like the axe throw is bland. The actual animation is really basic, I don't feel like there is enough wind up, and the angle is pretty generic. As for the castle, it looks good, though it could use a bit more contrast.
Just wondered if you guys know around when you will be releasing the project. It looks like it will probably be one of the best, if not the best Lego movies ever made.
Thanks! We hope to release the film next year in August (the grand premiere will *hopefully* be at Bricks By the Bay). Our plan is to finish pretty much all the animation by the end of January, and then spend all the time up until August editing, doing re-shoots, and working out CGI.
If someone has asked this don't mind, but how long this movie should be?
Oww, that's nice to hear! Perfect masterpiece 30 min movie.
Looking forward to seeing it. Mind if I ask a question? What frame size are you shooting in? eg: 1920x1080. I know the T2i can do larger, I'm trying to figure out if that's ever nessesary.
