Topic: Montreal Stop Motion Film Festival 2011 [CLOSED]

I have no affiliation with this festival but I was asked to share this, and thought some folks here might be interested:

The 2011 Montreal Stop-Motion Film Festival: Call for entries!

Hot on the heels of the hugely successful second edition of the Montreal Stop Motion Film Festival, we are officially opening the Call for Entries for 2011.

www.StopMotionMontreal.com

To enter your film in the festival, download a submission form, fill it out, and send it in, along with your film.

Deadline for film submissions is: September 26, 2011.

Please refer to the entries section on our website for answers to any questions you might have concerning eligibility, dates, accepted formats, and new rules.

This year, the professional segment has been updated with a new category for films-commercials less than 1 minute in running time and we will have more guest appearance during this week-end long event that promises to be super cool!

The festival will be held in Montreal, from the 21st to the 23rd of October 2011.

Help us spread the word and tell all your Stop Motion friends to participate and join us for the coolest festival around!

Cinematographically yours,

Erik H. Goulet
Director

I like the sound of it Smeagol, I might be able to enter.  Are you just promoting it or are you a partner?

I enjoy entering my films in loads of festivals. So this may be just the perfect thing for me. mini/smile
I'll probably submit How to Not Rob a Bank if completed on time.

Re: Montreal Stop Motion Film Festival 2011 [CLOSED]

Do entrants have to be 18 and over, or whatever the age in Canada is where a person goes from a minor to an adult?

Re: Montreal Stop Motion Film Festival 2011 [CLOSED]

I'm entering this contest if people under 18 can enter.

Re: Montreal Stop Motion Film Festival 2011 [CLOSED]

Hi everyone,

I'm the one who passed along the info to Smeagol, I'm a junior coordinator for the festival. Currently, there are no age restrictions for participants. If your short film was not made as part of either a a school assignment or course, you'll be submitting under the Independent category. There will also most likely be a family-friendly/all ages screening this year as well, so it's possible your film could end up in that screening if it's all-ages appropriate.

If you guys have any more questions, feel free to post here or e-mail me directly at [email protected]

Thanks for the interest, guys! Keep on animating, and spread the word about the festival!

That's certainly good to know.

Re: Montreal Stop Motion Film Festival 2011 [CLOSED]

Apparently you need to own all rights on whatever you are using for your entries. ( It makes sence.

I live near Montreal.  By near I mean 800 kilometers...  I'll try to enter something to this festival.

Re: Montreal Stop Motion Film Festival 2011 [CLOSED]

Wait, so can we make any film, or is there any theme?

EDIT: It doesn't seem like I'm going to enter this contest - and are we really not able to share on Internet? Anyway, people who are entering, have fun!

The theme is stop motion.
So, that really just gets all of brickfilming in general. mini/smile

You'll find that this is pretty common with most film festivals, as being sued by copyright holders is not an enjoyable experience. mini/no

ANP is right, there is no particular theme. If your film is stop motion, then it's all good! I'm a little confused by the second part of your post. Films that already appear on the internet are still eligible for the festival. The only stipulation is that the film must have been completed after January 2008, and in the case of mixed media, 75% of the film's runtime must contain stop motion animation.

Re: Montreal Stop Motion Film Festival 2011 [CLOSED]

Will I still retain my rights to my film? As in, you won't be able to make money off of it with anything besides the festival.
