I've been using Sony vegas for awhile, but I've heard Lightworks was kind of better. i downloaded but I don't know how to use it, can anybody help?
Since it's free, beta software there's not a proper, thorough set of official documentation. However, the quick start guide would probably be a good place to start. There's also a wiki that goes into more depth.
There is a whole set of excellent tutorials on YouTube.
It'll take you a couple of hours to view them all... 
I saw some guides on the Lightworks website in the downloads section. Those should help.
