The challenge of distance is no match for the magic of friendship.

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic - Appreciation Thread

...

That ignorant moronic antibrony doesn't get it.

He's the one who's clinging to the past, not us.  But not a personal past, the past of humans long dead.  This "everyone in a certain group has to like this stuff" thing dates back to when extra-family social relations were just forming.  If one member of a group had a certain physical hinderance, then he couldn't do the things the other group members could.  Because there was no need to hold onto him, they outcast him.  That's the root of this, a kind of social version of natural selection.  Hey, why not call it social selection?  As time went on, social selection began to apply to not just physical things, but cultural things.  It became to be that any aspect of a person that was unfarmiliar to most people was thought of as strange and needed to be excluded.  This created little to no tolerance for different things.  Now, social selection isn't neccesary for the physically or culturally different.  We know ways to help people who have something that's acually a problem.  But people still practice social selection for things that aren't problems.  They do it no matter what the different thing is.  People still hold onto old values unreasonably.  They never analyze the idea to decide for themselves if they want to go along with it.  They only go along with it out of the fear they'll be excluded if they don't.  Anyone who tries to exclude a person, a group of people, or even an object is basically saying the same thing; "It goes against present values.".  They're such stick-in-the-muds with thier values.  If only everyone would realize what values are doing harm and adjust thier values accordingly.  This whole subbornness is ridiculous and irrational.  It's a shame that so many people do this.

The values endorsed in MLP, however, are much better.  They're more constructive and logical.  Even though such ideas are thought to be for children, they're better fit for all ages.  They were designed for kids because they didn't want to expose the kids to the "adult" ideas too soon and wanted to teach the younger generation better values.  In doing so, they created values better for everyone.  This is why us bronies like it.  By comparison, we see the show's values are better.  The best way we can find these values is wrapped in an entertaining package, which is the show.  We crave this escape from present values that is also very entertaining.  Both of those things make it a very enjoyable show that is like no other.  We want to share this with others, because we know it's good for everypony.

If everypony in the world was a brony (or pegasister), then the world would be a much better place.  The old values will be discarded at last, and we will have values that are fit for the present instead of the past.

SO today I went to LEGOLand, and I wore my Scootaloo shirt.

I got two brohoofs from two employees and we talked about ponies. It was awesome mini/bigsmile

Also, I got a Deadpool LEGO set, mainly so I can do this:

So much winning.

I went there back in 2008. Have you been there before?

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic - Appreciation Thread

Yeah, I live about 2 hours away. I used to go every year but this is the first time I've been in a while.

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic - Appreciation Thread

Finally caught up, I was so busy finishing "Cave" for a deadline and then dealing with other school obligations that I haven't been watching MLP lately.

The season finale was pretty incredible, definitely exceeded expectations for me.

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic - Appreciation Thread

I learned Hush Now Quite now (Fluttershy's one) on the piano a few days ago, and today, I started figuring out a bit of the theme song, hopefully, I'll be able to play it in its entirety sometime.
(Which is going to probably take a bunch of effort since I'm such a horrible piano player and can't read music) mini/tongue He he

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic - Appreciation Thread

I can play the Pinkie Pie Polka for Clarinet. It seems to fit the accordion well.

My friend's brother has a band which plays many of the songs from the show, and he might be able to give me sheet music for Winter Wrap-Up and the theme on the trombone. Wheeee.

I really, really want to learn that. It sounds pretty fantastic on piano.

(Well, it's the Pony Polka, it sounds great with basically everything)

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic - Appreciation Thread

I want to learn how to play guitar just so I can play Pinkie's Brew from Friendship is Witchcraft.

1.) What kind of band is this? I presume jazz, but what kind of jazz?
2.) Is he the bandleader?

1.) It's actually not a jazz band, it's an actual rock and roll band with guitars and drums and all that stuff. He said he'll try to translate the sheet music to trombone.
2.) I dunno. I don't think so, but not positive.

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic - Appreciation Thread

GRAT IT!*  The YouTube channel I was watching MLP on, Alrax96, has been removed by Hasbro.

Can anypony reccomend a different YouTube channel?  I would perfer one that has high picture quality, without the watermarks, most if not all of the episodes, and links to the next episode at the end (doesn't matter if the episodes are divided into two parts as long as it has this).

*- "Grat" is an accidental portmanteau of "great" and "drat" I made up.  I use it when I'm too upset to say "great" or "drat" (I dunno why).  It doesn't really have any meaning.  People usually use curse words when they're angry or upset to let it out, but curse words have dirty meanings.  Using "grat", I can express upsetness without saying something dirty.

I do a similar thing with the made-up word "gabatay" Literally meaning "I'm frustrated" used for a character I thought up called Sqwee. I've sneaked this word into both How to Not Rob a Bank and Pirates Rule!

ON TOPIC: Two of my friends wish to watch MLP with another friend and I, now all I need to do is convince him to watch it with us and I may finally have some personal MLP friends. Hahahahaha! >:D
(Any ideas on how to convince him?)

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic - Appreciation Thread

Show him the Twilight Goes Psycho scene in Lesson Zero.

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic - Appreciation Thread

Either that or show him "Party of One". That was the first one I saw and it got me hooked, and it was the first I showed to some friends and they loved it.

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic - Appreciation Thread

What hooked me was The Return of Harmony-Parts 1 and 2. But whatever you do, do NOT show them the first episode. I remember watching the first minute before I became a brony, and when I heard Celestia say "she used her unicorn power", I immediately stopped watching. That gave me the wrong impression, and I never watched it for a while after that.

Re: My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic - Appreciation Thread

I was wondering more along the lines of what to say to get him to try the show in the first place since he refuses to even try it.
