The Sequel to America: Outlawed is now up on Kickstarter.com! --> http://kck.st/kTBQXy Please go there now to read more info and to help make a pledge!  My goal is to make another big leap forward in the art of brickfilm animation and I have planned many new and improved techniques for this new feature production. mini/bigsmile

Re: Ghost Town Brickfilm now on Kickstarter!

I sent this in a YouTube message to you, but I think I'll just put it here, too.

I know you might have completed the the script to "Ghost Town". I'm relatively young for an animator and don't have a lot of money to donate. But I can offer suggestions. My one idea for the script was that either one of the bandits had a son who early on was killed accidentally by law enforcement, and his ghost shows up in the film. Another suggestion, this time for set building, was to look (if you already haven't) at this guy called TheBrickster who built a series of MOCs revolving around a ghost town called Grave Stone. Link at the end. One way to get more publicity would be to make trailers, teasers, update videos, and this thing on Bricksinmotion called an "Update Thread". Update Threads generally go in the Pre-Production section of the forums, and they are threads that follow the production of a big film. They generally include setup pics, sneak peaks, tests, and helpful advice. I know that what you really want is material and I cannot help with that, but you are my carefully chosen favorite Brickfilmer ever and I'd like to help out any way I can.

Well, I don't have much money to spare like Golden, however if you have about $100 or so free then my brother might be able to compose something for you. He's a professional musician who owns a studio (If you wish I could send pics), so you might be able to get a discount. He usual charges high, but I'm sure he could lower it if I asked especially.

What'd you be willing to pay? (PM me if you feel uncomfortable discussing this publicly)

I'll be back animating soon! Exams and computer faults are keeping me away </3

Re: Ghost Town Brickfilm now on Kickstarter!

Guys, I don't think he's really looking for advice or external resources. He's a professional, and if you watch the video he's posted on kickstarter then you'd know he's already finished the script and has his own recording setup.

Anyway, good luck with getting together the cash to fund this, it looks really promising.

And I hope "This project will only be funded if at least $4,000 is pledged by Thursday Aug 4, 12:28am EDT" is just something kickstarter post on every project page.

Re: Ghost Town Brickfilm now on Kickstarter!

Um, guys, did you watch the video? He showed the completed script, and his studio (Including where he'll be recording the original score).

Good luck Doug, I'll try and see if I can donate at least $10. I've also got a fairly large western brickfilm pitch approved by Kickstarter but yet to launch it, hopefully will get around to it this week.

Looking forward to it. mini/bigsmile

Edit: And Riley; the creator of the project has the option before launching to set the date and time at which they want it to be funded by. If a project doesn't reach its set amount by that time, the project doesn't get funded, and the people who donated don't get charged.

Re: Ghost Town Brickfilm now on Kickstarter!

I haven't even seen the 1st one yet! I need to get the time!
Sounds really, really cool. The wild west is always something that's fascinated me, but I know practically nothing about it because I'm English. In my school they only teach English history, so we learn about the industrial revolution instead (insert yawn). I know literally no stories or anything of the wild west, but I love ghost stories so this seems my thing. Looks like you've got a pretty good set up too.
The only thing I would recommend is perhaps not making it too long. I know that you're trying to make something big, but I'm not so sure if lego's the right thing to do a 30+ minute long epic with. I think it would be best if it weren't too long, but I think as long as your story is interesting then you won't have problems with however long it is. Wow, How many times did I just say 'long'?
But as I said, sounds good. I wish you luck with your $4,000 fund! I don't have money to donate, but all I can do is wish you the best of luck on this brilliant looking film. I see another classic in the making. Very professional.
May I just ask what the $4,000 is for? You have the camera, the set, the lights, all apart from the lego I'd say that you've got everything. I suppose software, lenses, etc isn't cheap.
But good luck! mini/delirium

You should see the first one, it's longer than 30 minutes, and it's awesome. It's entertaining, keeps you interested all the time. Same for "Pirates". And Leftfieldstudios made an hour long star wars lego movie, and it is good. Time doesn't matter, as long as the story is decent and the direction is good. I just wanted to point that out. Sorry if I haven't added anything important to this thread. All I could say is that I'd love to help, but I don't have money.

Re: Ghost Town Brickfilm now on Kickstarter!

I would love to see how you are spending $4k to make a brickfilm. Not that I am suspicious but it does seem awfully high in price.

Re: Ghost Town Brickfilm now on Kickstarter!

Thanks everyone for checking this out.  Funny no one has money to help.  If I could even get one dollar from everyone it would help.  As far as advice I'm doing okay, I have the script pretty solid as of now but still always like hearing possible suggestions.  The 30 min length is actually not enough time to tell the story but it should be entertaining throughout.

to answer the question about budget.  The reason it's high is because I'm trying to get Dragon Stop motion with accompanying hardware (3D slider) Also because I'm using a DSLR camera I need new lenses which are freakin pricey!! Also for the adapters and close focus rings.  I also want to use black magic hardware which costs several hundreds of dollars.

the budget will basically give this film a completely pro style.  It's a lot but, it's not.  considering I already bought the camera.

I'm actually hoping to get enough to get the 3D slider which will mark this as one of the first 3D brickfilms ever made!

any little bit can help! Please help! even a buck! mini/bigsmile

Re: Ghost Town Brickfilm now on Kickstarter!

It's awesome that you're making a sequel to America: Outlawed with all these amazing features. I'm currently working on a longer project and I still have to pay some prizes from a contest I've done, so I have to spend my money on these two things. But right after I'll finish that, I'll spend the rest of it definitely on your film (which is still gonna be a lot). It'll be wonderful pleasure to spend my money on something amazing like that.                                                                     -sfugity-

Wow. I can't wait to see it!
Your set, lighting and software (Dragon Stop Motion) are all PERFECT!
Why are you not number one on this site? I hope to see the new brickfilm soon!

thanks Hazzat!  Every little bit counts.  I'm starting to notice that many fans, however excited, are too young to be able to donate money.  So I am making alternate plans to see what I can do without the proper funding.  It will not be in 3D but maybe I will still be able to get the software and some extra lenses.

Re: Ghost Town Brickfilm now on Kickstarter!

I have a question regarding the second-tier reward: What is the Lazy Cow Bird? Is this the "free LEGO set" mentioned? Is it available at any other tier?

Re: Ghost Town Brickfilm now on Kickstarter!

It is. a small character set of a grey bird with a cowboy hat sitting on a barrel.  I will post a photo soon.  It is available at the $10 level and up.

Anywho, I only have $17.00 left in my bank account, so don't expect any money from me. mini/tongue Looking forward to the film nonetheless, America: Outlawed was one of the reasons I got into brickfilming.
