Where is the best place and cheapest to get a x-large grey baseplate?
I would recommend Toys 'R Us.

I got mine at the Lego store. I don't remember the price, though.
Toys R Us is one of the last places I like to shop for LEGO, considering the way they mark it up above MSRP.
Yard sales.
I got mine at a Wal-Mart, though. Cost me $11. :[
Buy them through BrickLink if shipping's not too expensive! You can get some hefty bargains on baseplates there.

Don't buy stuff from lego stores or there website...they are expensive! My x-large baseplate costed me $15! Buy your legos off bricklink if you find it cheaper.
