Topic: Need a little help

I'm in need of a camera, however not quite sure what to get. I've search webcams, point and shoot, and DSLRs. Obviously my first thought was the QCP9K, but what is different between the types of cameras beside quality and price? I'm also a professional stop-motion animation aside from brickfilms, so a DSLR would be a nice upgrade in my other work. And if I were to get a QCP9K what frame grabbers do you suggest for Windows XP? I have a budget of about $500 USD.

Any suggestions would be great!

Well with such a high bugdet, I should ask Smeagol (the admin) what kind of camera he uses, because with that money, you can buy a holy good camera.

Well, if you've got a budget that large, I'd go for at least a Canon Powershot A640, which is only around $150 dollars. Now I'm sure that there are some better cameras that would fit your budget, but I can't think of any off the top of my head. I don't know much about DSLRs, but from what I've seen, that might be an even better investment. I believe Night Owl might have one, but he's just about the only one around here that I know of that does.

I would really only spend that much if I were to get a DSLR, but if I decided against it I would probably just put the extra money for other things I may need. Which is why I'm kind of unsure about a DSLR, like if I could get something cheaper that is decent quality, that way I can buy other things.
I may get a DSLR for sure in the future (possibly a few years from now), when I get some production companies looking for animation, I know of a few that soon to be in need of some stop-motion animators.

Don't get a DSLR unless you're really serious about both brickfilming and photography. Even if you can get DSLRs for under $500 now, you'd have to spend more so it'll work well for brickfilming. I got lucky because my dad kept all his old lenses, but it still took a while before I had everything figured out.

I'd say the PowerShot is your best bet. Plus it's supposed to be one of the best point-and-shoot cameras out there.
