Topic: Water: What program do you use to animate it, and HOW do you do that?

We have been experimenting a lot lately, and though we love to use Squirtz water reflections for most of our films, for scenes with ships MOVING in water, we need to make water that we can animate, but we don't know how to animate water!  In fact, we don't even know what program to use for it!  We do own and use Carrara 5 though, if you can animate water with that...?

In Squirlz Water Reflections, you can't move the water.

Tin Foil.

From what I've seen and experimented with it gives a nice effect. For a black and white film, you can just leave it as the sea but in a colour film I might suggest having a blue " ceiling " or something blue above to give the effect of a blue sea. Give it a try and see how you feel with the result mini/smile

I was thinking more toward 3D animated water, like in Smeagol's film "Unrenewable."  Does anyone know anything about this?

Well, there's Blender. But good luck learning it.

I would use plastic wrap. Or I would use paper.

I don't really use programs to animate water.

How about blue bricks as demonstrated in Pagonamation's Go MiniMan Go

Well, Blender, but it's really difficult.

In what way is it difficult?  Is it a free software?

It's free, yes, but really hard to learn and to apply.

Okay.  I'll look into it.  But does anyone know where any tutorials are for this?  Does anyone here know how to use it?
