Topic: Do you think a Lego stop motion over 10mins is to long?

My next stop motion may be 10mins or longer.

Just wondering your opinion. I know some people don't like long videos.

No. A 75-minute brickfilm is long. Look up Star Wars: The Great Disturbance by Leftfield Studios if you want to.

Actually, I think there was a three hour brickfilm some nut made, but didn't actually upload to the internet, preferring to use DVDs.

A lot depends on the quality of the story. If it's interesting, ten minutes is nothing. If it's not, most people are going to stop watching a minute in.

Depends on people's preference. But usually 10 minutes isn't too bad.

Re: Do you think a Lego stop motion over 10mins is to long?

You'll get a problem with YouTube, by uploading a 10.00 Minutes long film.
The limit for regular YouTube-Member (Not partner) is excactly 9.59.
If you wan't to do a.. 15-16 minutes long film, you need to upload it, in parts, As Letfield did.
Also, YouTube blocked 'The Great Disturbance', It's not viewable.
-Jack.
EDIT: And No. It's not to long.

I know, thank you for the help. ^^

And it isn't 9.99, it is exactly 10:00, because that is what my Relapse Movies are. xD

As Noodle said: if it´s intersting, 10 mins not to long. with an action scene at the beginning, you´ll get my view mini/wink

Yeah, thank you for the tip. Mine isn't going to have action (well, a little of course) in the beginning, but is going to have 2 jokes within the first 50secs...would that get you interested, if they are good jokes?

It is going to be about history, actually. But I am making in a "I can't stop watching it because it is interesting" kind of way. Of course not everyone will like it. So far, the script is running into 4 pages long, I expect it to be 7 or 8 pages...and that is a long video for me! haha!

Actually, you'll find that is not the case. It used to be so that only accounts that were marked as "director" (which seems like ages ago that system was still in order), could upload films longer than 10:00, however at the moment there is no such thing as a time limit. At least, if there is, it's longer than 10 minutes, as I currently have a 14 minute video uploaded.

However there is still a 100MB limit, if I'm not mistaken, so there's that. But, yeah, 10 minutes isn't really that long. It's a good length to be able to tell a gripping story, rather than a scene. In movie terms, 10 minutes is a "short film". Seeing as Brickfilms are rarely feature length, ten minutes seems like a longer time than it actually is.

Nothing's stopping you - if it's good, then it deserves to be 10 minutes.

I'm pretty sure the YouTube limit is actually 10:59.

14 minutes and 33 seconds.

I have 7 subscribers. I'm definitely not a partner.

The limit might be 15:00, but it's not ten minutes. Proof!

Re: Do you think a Lego stop motion over 10mins is to long?

That's weird becuase not so long ago it was definitely 10:59, and I think youtube has a 1-2GB upload limit.

Re: Do you think a Lego stop motion over 10mins is to long?

Like everyone else said: If you have a good story to tell and that is interesting to watch, then no it is not. But since we are animators and animating takes up a lot of time, 10 min. films are considered to be relatively long on this forum.

Re: Do you think a Lego stop motion over 10mins is to long?

if its good animation and a fast paced storyline, go ahead with it. But dont do it if ur gonna fill it wiith long pauses just to fill time.
